DOUTHAT: What is Christian about the second Trump administration? VANCE: Hahahaha. Well, I think that -- we have pursued a series of economic policies

he didn't ask about cutting help for the poor, just talked about middle class. I'm pretty sure that Jesus would not be happy about that.

Anyone think that it is odd that the VP is hawking his book while being VP? Like his job as the VP is his side hustle? Taxpayers are paying him to be VP, but all I see him do is talk about his book and various podcasts and TV shows.

That question was hilarious as indicated by jD's off guffaw and his inability to articulate why there isn't a shred of Christianity in any Trump admin. Quite the opposite actually

Christian tenet famously first taught to kids is “Pursue economic policies unto others as you would have economic policies pursued unto you.”

Wish someone would ask what he thinks George Washington and other founding fathers meant with their 1797 Treaty of Tripoli’s religion clause.

The guy is wholly out of touch and far too stupid to explain economic policy. He twisted himself into knots trying to explain how the administration’s failed economic policies have benefited the middle class thereby benefiting Christian’s. Talk about clueless. That’s a hillbilly for you.

Yes, Jesus was famously into money and accumulation of wealth. Like he said, "It is better for a rich man to enter the gates of heaven than a camel any day." And, " Suffer the little children because it costs too much to help them"

Not trying to be snarky. But it seems you’re equating comments on religion by Joe Biden and by jdvance as equally sincere. I think Joe’s being honest and lives his beliefs. I think jd is a liar who will use religion or whatever else is handy to benefit himself.

Jesus was all about economic policies. Couldn’t shut up about them. Even on the cross he was all like “it’s actually good that people are paying more for things because it’s helpful to my 401k in the long run” to the point that the other crucified people started demanding to moved away from him.

First answer should be: we’re not a Christian nation so that’s a dumb question. Second answer should be: there is absolutely nothing Christian about this administration. There should not be an answer that includes rebuilding the middle class.

The racism The Epstein cover up Supporting a pedophile The pardoning of violent thugs Bombing schools Killing people in boats Bullying Not turning the other cheek Not helping you neighbours Very Christian.

WTAF? Christian Economic Policies including not feeding the poor, not taking care of the sick, not working for the economic welfare of any but the mega-wealthy? Those are all anti-Christian pieces of unholy 🐂💩🖕

Fuck Ross Douthat. He led the cheers for manliness meatheads to choose a proven liar and bastard who tried to overturn the 2020 election over Harris. He said “manliness was on the ballot”. Eat your humble pie now, you chauvinist asshole.

I think the most Christian thing the Felon and JD have done, was to illegally coverup and plan that coverup in the situation room, to protect the main pedophile, TRUMP. Secret meetings to coverup crimes is the most Christian thing to do in this broken country!

Shifty-eyed disingenuous Ross interviews shifty-eyed disingenuous JD about the sincerities of "faith." What used to be simple fakery has become a self-parodying art form. Enjoy!

Dogged the question while running headfirst into an even tougher question. (that he also can’t answer) Wear a helmet JD, you’re talking too many hits to the head.

Holy Fuck Off! Have you any idea of the tax policy of Jesus Christ? It would make your eyes water. Immigration? Bye bye ICE. Pentagon and prison industries would shrivel.

ah yes, the Bible, famous for its economic policies especially the ones about social welfare and literally burning the rich in hell

Yes, taking money from the poor (kids in Africa, people on SNAP, the fired government employees) to give to the richest people on Earth is the epitome of Christian economic policies.

Oh yeah, cuz the middle class is doing so well right now. Just a few minor bumps in the road. Meanwhile the ultra wealthy are thinking, I can squeeze my camel through the eye of that needle. I just need more crypto!

What a weird response from Vance. I think the initial laughter is very telling. Almost anything he could say after the weird laughter seems disingenuous. DOUTHAT: What is Christian about the second Trump administration? VANCE: Hahahaha.

He hardly answered the question. He suggested changes in taxes, I’m comparison to other GOP administrations, but kept mentioning his party being “attacked”. So I guess Vance really doesn’t know how Christian the Trump admin is,

Obviously, he didn't even attempt to answer the question asked. But even a surface level analysis of what he's trying to take credit for is infuriatingly condescending to the listener. None of the things listed were problems before the policies, and none of the policies improved them if they were!

Good article, but Trump is going to lose a portion of that base if he throws Israel under the bus. Part of the 2016 quid pro quo between Trump and the Evangelical Right was unconditional support for Israel.
