I have attempted to contact the consulate but I did not get any answer They did post this to their Facebook page On the 25th at 1pm My Spanish is quite rusty, but it basically outlines their process for communicating with US immigration authorities on a regular basis

What a presidential statement. “Trump said Bovino, the go-to architect for the president’s large-scale city-by-city immigration crackdowns, was “very good” but added “he’s a pretty out-there kind of a guy” and “maybe it wasn’t good here.”

Tell them all to lock their doors & never open it to let ICE in. Talk thru the door. Use sign language or write it down. They need a security screen too and a small impenetrable lobby cage

If it looks like Gestapo, if it talks like Gestapo, if it kills like Gestapo. They are Donald Trumps Gestapo, he and his whole bunch of administration and his wealthy techbros supporters are Nazis.

Clearly these idiots don't understand the context of diplomatic immunity. I'm sure a lot of Americans don't even know or understand this. You can't arrest someone from a consulate even when you do have a warrant unless you want to start an all-out war. This is an incredibly dangerous and dumb move.

Most of my knowledge of diplomatic immunity comes from Lethal Weapon 2. I'm fairly certain that would still rank me in the top 0.1% of ICE agents.

During the US-backed dictatorship in my country in the 70's-80's, the military took a teacher who escaped them and run into the Venezuelan embassy asking for asylum. She was literally dragged off the grounds (her body is still missing). Venezuela immediately cut relationships with us, for 20+ years.

I'm sorry that happened and we'll do what I can to inquire more about it. I respect and value consulates rights to immunity. The important thing that I was discussing earlier was because of those who abuse them. Not because those who need to be protected.

I know that the USA has had a rough relationship with Venezuela. I have many good friends from the Duran and the Ignacio family in Venezuela. That's why I want us to have a strong diplomatic relationship. Because, I know there are good people in your country.

The United States has become the first Nazi regime in the 21st century. We have to stop these bastards, because they will just keep on killing us. It has to stop now, no more f****** around.

Obviously the patriot front guys weren’t at the class about international immunity Maybe we can get lucky and the consulate security drops them where they stand on ECUADORIAN SOIL!

These people are absolutely crazy. They know no limits. This is diplomatic, consular property. Under international las and the Geneva Convention for Diplomatic and Consular Relations the premises are inviolable and host country thugs cannot enter.

Unbelievable! Consulates are protected under diplomatic immunity and cannot be entered or searched by U.S. authorities without permission based on international treaties. They are out of control and think they are above any and all laws domestic or international.

Even a warrant would not get them into an Embassy or Consulate. They have Diplomatic Immunity that even extends to their cars with Diplomatic plates don't need to abide by traffic laws. They can park wherever and however they want and not get tickets. ICE are ignorant hicks from the sticks

Fuck ICE, but this is a little bit funny to Mexicans because Ecuador raided the Mexican Embassy in Quito a couple of years ago to arrest the former vice president of Ecuador who was hiding out there. So Ecuadorians are a bit on shaky ground calling foul here.

FUN FACT: Consulates are considered the national soil of the country that occupies them This was quite literally an invasion which, given that they surely did this without direct authorization, is an extremely serious offense Not rhetoric: It's the kind that folks could get executed for.

Remember how Trump and Kegbreath have been throwing around "illegal combatant" and that sort of thing? This strays into that territory. The ICE agents were damned lucky that the Ecuadorian consulate security didn't shoot them dead. They'd be well within their rights to do so.

Someone can’t just enter another country’s embassy and do that. It’s like entering that country. There is no more law and no more Constitution in America. We’re doomed if something isn’t done to stop this crazy machine.

Maeine Security Guards have to pass a selection board and a special training school for those billets. The only requirements for ICE are zero impulse control and zero curiosity. Convictions a plus. Literacy optional - open-book with multiple retales allowed. www.esquire.com/news-politic...

esquire.comICE Is Hiring Literally Anybody, and It’s TerrifyingMany recruits have criminal backgrounds or can’t pass open-book exams on officer conduct, yet they’re allowed to tear children from their beds at night.

I’ve heard that the friendly staff of the USA embassy in Reykjavík come out on the street with guns to tell random pedestrians passing by the embassy to ”fuck off”.

The world needs to boycott FIFA World cup now. If the republicans are sending ICE to Italy to provide security for the Olympics, What do the republicans have planned for ICE agents during the FIFA world cup? Protect your athletes and fans, they will not be safe in the U.S.

The Europeans are really not down with ICE sending security, not the same branch that's pulling fascist crap. The problem is the fascist stench is attached to all of ICE and the Euros don't want them.

It sounded like "If you touch me I will grab you", and the idea that police bodies are somehow inviolable even to mild or incidental touch is another idea that needs to go the fuck away soonest.

We can expect these kinds of distractions as long as trump is in office. The ICE agents should know by now that they need a warrant. In fact, they do know but since they're not being held accountable, why would they bother trying to obtain one?

Warrant doesn't matter. There is a rule of inviolability that applies to the foreign sovereignty of a consular building. Only explicit consent from the Ecuadorian government would have made this even remotely legal.

I’m guessing if someone tried this in a US consulate office or Embassy, US Marines would have weapons raised, safety off and fingers on triggers.

A consulate is the property of that nation. NO US official can enter without prior permission. After all - God help the official / cop who tries to walk into a US Consulate anywhere without authorization.

I assume the regime will back ICE up and say they have a right to go into consulates and embassies against those countries will. At that point, every country should get the fuck out of the US. The current US does not respect the concept of sovereignty for any country besides the US.

This gave me flashbacks to #JamalKhashoggi's murder on October 2, 2018, by agents of the Saudi government at the #SaudiConsulate in #Istanbul, #Turkey. I'm glad they barred the door! WTF?

Their boss himself is ignorant of international rules and protocols. They kidnapped the head of state in Venezuela. They think they can just demand Greenland from Denmark. They threaten other countries like Cuba and Columbia. Trump always says he likes the uneducated and ICE has plenty of those.

WTF?!!! That is ECUADORIAN TERRITORY! ICE has no fkn right to invade a sovereign foreign territory. That could be considered an act of war. Equadore: Go after trump & his goons.!

Pretty sure this is at a minimum invasion of foreign territory not to mention a violation of treaties, not that the US gives a damn about the treaties it signs. Reading over the legalities, it would appear that Ecuador would be within its rights to consider this an Act of War, technically speaking.

Tried to confirm this with Perplexity. Dry well. I should point out that in this case a warrant wouldn't help. They'd still have to get permission from the Ecuadorian government. Of course the kiddnappers of Maduro did not have permission either.

Silly question that in no way diminishes the gravity of the incident: Do we know it was ICE? (Because CBP and probably a couple other agencies up there, and some people are referring to all of them as ICE.)

The Trump regime is operating wholly outside the US Constitution, the rule of law, and international law. The six MAGA Nazis on the US Supreme Court and congressional MAGA Nazis have aided & abetted this fascist takeover of the United States of America.

See if you can watch the episode "A Diplomatic Incident" in the "Yes, Prime Minister" series. I use it to teach about special spaces. The egregiousness of what happened becomes clearer in light of that episode. Respect for law at any level is abhorrent to these buggers.

Just waiting for little donny dick-tator's regime goon squad to break a window on a car with diplomatic plates and yank the person with diplomatic protection out of the car. You know, because they don't look American 😏

Well it wasn't that long ago that a country lured & bonesawed a US citizen in their consulate & the only legal consequences can come from that consulate country's authorities, host country couldn't do a thing. I can't imagine a thug state gang member has any rights to go in any consulate.

A quick google tells me that a consulate is basically a branch office to an embassy (embassy's are only in the country's capitol), and all the same rules about not allowing the host government's police force onto the property apply. So you are correct.
