Every video of someone with a Husky looks like living in Hell. This giant oafish 60lb animal that tries to get on tables like a cat and constantly makes this yowl of agony as loudly as possible, which is extremely loud, otherwise dedicating their existence to destruction or moving

We had an Alaskan Malamute/Yellow Lab mix once which is sort of similar to Husky energy We literally had to give it to some family friends who had a pig farm because that dog had too much energy and chaos for us to withstand And no, it wasn't a euphemism, we visited her sometimes and everything

Having this experience as a kid and growing up hearing that some parents actually told their kids "we sent the dog to a farm upstate" as a euphemism for euthanasia had me going "oh what the fuck" when that penny dropped

Also my mom currently has an American Staffordshire terrier and that dog jumps up on all kinds of shit and she never stops him and I just wanna yell and yell and yell and yell

From what I understand they are very high-energy dogs bred to run pulling a sled for long lengths of time and most Americans with an email job are NOT going to be able to give them enough exercise to prevent them getting bored and destructive

I grew up with 2 huskies, they’re great dogs provided you give them 8 hours a day to pace in a precise figure 8 pattern (smart one) or sprint around aimlessly (dumb one). Oh and regularly clean up tumbleweeds of loose fur.

My buddy has a husky that could jump 8' fences, nightmare. Now he's old and overweight because he can't let him off a lead. Got me a pomsky, full-grown 25 lbs. Short bursts of energy but otherwise chill and super smart!

Klaus would disagree!! He’s an apartment just who lives in Minneapolis, although this was our 4th walk of the day. 🙃 And he does get to run off leash along the Mississippi 3/4 times a week!!

My friend has four and I don't know how she does it. They run around constantly, jumping on couches, destroying socks. They don't yowl that much but all four have the energy of a hyperactive toddler and it's tiring.

I assumed they'd be miserable in warm climates cause I see people owning them in India but apparently their fur coats are amazing for also keeping out heat the same way they thrive in the cold??? They're such huge creatures. It's basically a status symbol cause of how much they eat

That's fascinating. They're impressive and beautiful animals, they're arguably one of the coolest looking dogs, but they also seem to carry with them a high cost

Yeah they look majestic but very high maintenance. Even the people who own them don't seem to want anything to do with them and hire dog walkers. Very energetic, temperamental breed.

Yes, they are energetic. But temperamental? Not really. Too many people get a Husky without understanding what Huskies need. They're not a house dog; they are a working dog. They need to spend the energy they have. It's instinctual.

I had a miniature American Eskimo which is basically a Spitz renamed because of anti-german sentiment after WW2, my brother's psychotic ex shaved him once and he was miiiiiiiisseerraaabllleeeee until his hair came back One of many things I will never forgive that evil evil person about

Huskies, like most dogs tbh, have a lot of energy and they in particular are a more vocal breed for sure. Without proper training and consistent exercise outlets, dogs in general tend to get destructive. Esp if they’ve developed separation anxiety.

In my experience, dogs with higher energy and owners who aren’t exercising them adequately will see the most behavioral problems. It’s an experience not exclusive to huskies, but since they’re prone to having excess energy, it’s one you’re more likely to encounter with them.

I feel lucky every day that our mutt is only half husky, such that his yowls are reserved solely for bath time and getting overly excited at the dog park 😌 oafish doesn’t even begin to cover it though they’re such goobers

our downstairs neighbour a few years back had a husky that howled all day, the house sounded haunted. she ripped all the trim off the windows and doors and escaped at least once a week. you really get a sense of how someone decided to try tying theirs to a sled

Huskies are not house dogs. Too many people get dogs without understanding what a particular breed needs. Huskies are working dogs & very energetic. They have to spend that energy. Anyone who lives in an apt/condo & works 9-5 and gets a Husky, gets what they deserve.

they dont *all* scream like hellbeasts. mine doesnt bark either. he does yell at us but its more him going WOOWOO sometimes very loudly but usually not super loud. ...he will get on the table if we arent there to stop him tho.
