I'm not a commodities guy but I don't know how many more events like this the markets will be willing to overlook because Trump occasionally shouts, "nearly done!" at a reporter from his golf cart.

The commodities guys are clearly idiots. Nothing else explains these whipsaw price swings. Trump lies as he breathes. His daily plan for everything: wing it with more lies. The only explanation for how his statements still move the market is that the markets are run by fucking morons.

When the markets have been feeling complacent, it's a bet that Trump will back down and declare victory, rather than that he'll achieve any constructive objective. They're now realizing that even if that happens, the egg won't magically unscramble. Some mistakes can't be undone.

This won’t help either .. On March 10, 2026, Saudi Arabia significantly reduced its oil output by 2 million to 2.5 million barrels per day (bpd) due to worsening shipping disruptions in the Strait of Hormuz caused by the conflict with Iran.

Seems market reacts when Americans go to bed, when American markets open back up it’s like the irrationality reasserts itself into the market.

Spent some time today trying to fathom why the markets don’t seem to care about an unfolding catastrophe. Then I remembered it took them 6 weeks to realise there was a global pandemic, even with wall to wall footage of dead bodies around the world.

Trump did stuff like this regularly during his 1st term. He would say or post something and the market would react immediately. After a while it would still react but, then as if to say, oh that's just Trump rifting, it would return to normal. Major market manipulation.

The markets are all really REACTIVE, and tend to be the type of people who are trying really hard to support the regime because of the money making opportunities. So, I think it'll take a lot more than this.
