I thought it was great. So many people hate on this movie and I don't get why. Yes it is NOT the Godfather or even close to it on acting. The eye candy though is amazing and I think the plot and story are decent enough. I think of it more like this generations 'Yellow Submarine', it's vehicle/1

for the Navi and Pandora and what things look like. The whole: "OMG I cannot stand the internal dynamic of the family and I think it needs to be more this or that!". You are kind of missing the point of the movies. Having said that I could go either way if they have another one. The costs seem/2

to be unfairly leading to the rise even more of super expensive movies only are being made by major studios. I don't even know of movies like 'Clerks' would be shown today as everything seems to be AAA only shown now in theatres.

This proves what that a lot of people are stupid? Just kidding I don’t think you’re stupid. I just don’t think the guy is all that great but I’m gonna throw my money away. It wouldn’t be on the Pocahontas meets Smurfs and exploits Native American culture.

Why do we judge movie success based on box office sales? Ticket prices vary wildly. Not just due to inflation. 3D IMAX 2D child adult senior. All different prices. Do we judge car sales based on dollars? No. By volume! Box office success should be based on tickets sold. Butts in seats.

what is really the story is the other 2 are Lilo & Stitch and Zootopia 2, Disney movies accounted for $6.5B of the $9B box office, it could be argued one company is keeping your local theater’s doors open and Disney has a number of movies expected to do quite well in 2026

This has got to be how non-comic book fans felt when the MCU was making billions of dollars and I was happily adding to that pile. I just don't get the Avatar appeal and REALLY don't get it on this scale.

I never saw the second one, doubt I'll watch this either. I didn't know anyone who's planning to watch it either. I find all these financial statements very suspicious.

One day, the box office fraud behind Avatar’s numbers will be exposed because that’s the only explanation I can think of for a movie no one seems to care about.

Don’t forget, overthrow the balance of power by arming a faction of extremists, genocide indigenous people, extinct a species of creatures for profit, etc. I feel like people want to hate on these movies because the glaringly obvious messages make them feel uncomfortable.

It turns out my youngest granddaughter, who is 2, saw the blue creatures for the first time and started crying. The blue creatures scared her, so it will be a little my time before they can reintroduce Avatar to her, though he five year old brother was enjoying it.

I saw it with my family and like the prior Avatar, it is visually impressive and very, very, very long, and this was the consensus of all of us. Even among people who care more about spectacle than story, three and a half hours of CGI is undesirably exhausting.

It was fun. When you go to see Avatar, you know exactly what you’re in for. One of the most consistent franchises. Great story telling? No. Mind blowing graphics and world building? Yes. I truly enjoyed it and would watch it again.

I wish James Cameron would make a sci-fi movie based in Ukraine with a scary alien war. If the alien is scarier than life in Ukraine, you know it's scary. That whole movie would be very suspenseful. It would draw attention to Ukraine's plight. There is a lot of footage to draw on.

The folks in front left about 3/4 through and I was so jealous. ( and there were only 5 people in the theater to start..) After waking up to videos of Venezuela, overblown death and destruction was the last thing I wanted to watch.

I wont. No way. Same movie, same plot, same same same. I will not pay for the same thing...yet again. If they are going to remake movies, I hope they find some good ones to remake. 🙄

After watching Andor, films like this feel utterly dead, from a plot perspective. They completely gloss over the evil and the injustice of colonialist oppression and exploitation. Great visuals as ever but a US marine as the savior of the "natives" is frankly insulting our intelligence and morality.

I can’t believe it made over a billion. Six of us walked out an hour in to the 3.5 hr (counting 15 min previews) of a heavy on machine guns, no storyline, AI slop, horrible dialogue/acting waste of time. And we loved first one. Are people’s standards just lower? Or we’re missing something.

To anyone that’s curious: this movie and way of water were filmed conjointly and originally were supposed to be one movie…and the story got so packed w ideas (idk if it was while writing or while filming) that they split them in two. Personally I love WoW and I just like F&A. Both good, as a fan

This is why most movies suck now but Disney specifically. They're made for international audiences and given the domestic take for this, it's just a perfect example as to why. I'd rather make a movie Americans don't really like than ones they do if I can make 960mil doing so.

Who wrote this article? Only $80M US but somehow $1B worldwide? As for "taking only 17 days to reach seven figures" that's painfully slow to reach $1M what are you even talking about?

I hated the original movie since it was just Pocahontas with added special effects, that looked like they they watched too much Final Fantasy X. And eveybody was like AMAZING! No, it was a sh#t, flimsy story. I love Pocahontas, I love Final Fantasy. I HATE Avatar!

I love movies but it's been so long since there's been a decent one. A few, Brutalist, Oppenheimer, 5 yrs ago Joker. Instead, theaters have been full of Wicked stuff and now Avatar stuff. Maybe great for kids (like old Sinbad movies) but I'm grown.

Just so Housesitter at the theater written by a famous author. This movie was the best psychological thriller I've watched in twenty years. The movie is riveting and I highly recommend it.

The movie industry is secretly gathering biometric information such as facial expressions from you while watching movies. Please consider👉 Biometric surveillance systems, that are used in war, can be found in theaters and living rooms. Don't just sit and be surveilled, #SkipDaMovies.

I liked it because it was the only movie about Frankenstein that ever was faithful to Mary Shelley’s novel and characters. Both Mary Shelley and her husband Percy Blythe Shelley were Romanticist poets and novelists. That was the genre of the novel-a Romanticist Prometheus. Hollywood turned

I read the novel- i didn't like this take. I hated the acting and directing. I thought the visuals of the cutting of bodies was revolutionary but I found the rest of it to look cheap. Personally, I would have focused more on the idea of the Enlightenment and the idea of atheism. 🙂

still has nothing to do with the movie being good or bad.. just that stupid people, who still pen themselves in a room with other obnoxious creatures, are willing to waste money going to a theater.. so 19th century of them

First: the gross amount should be put in context. At $32/ticket (Hollywood CA), the sales will total very quickly. Second: visually stunning as always but way too lloonngg! OMG Cut it down. Third: Cameron just don’t make a fourth one.

I didn't touch my soda until after one and a half hours, so yeah, it was long. Made it without a break. I enjoyed the spectacle and the action, but the high frame rate (48 fps) made it look like video crap. Earlier Avatars looked better. Story was meh, same ol' same, with a few new wrinkles.

I mean James Cameron has said in multiple interviews that he’ll only stop making Avatar movies if they bomb and he’s now 3 for 3 for them break a billion dollars. So unless the 4th one bombs we’re probably getting all 5.

Which is insane because it's a TERRIBLE movie I know this is a difficult concept for people but just because you like cool AI & special effects doesn't mean you have to suffer through another recycled & overplayed plot with terrible dialog

People still go to theaters? Were they sleeping during Aurora Colorado? Streaming in your skivies at home where you can pause the movie for your bathroom break beats lounge chairs in front of the popcorn throwing, cell phone call taking teens!

Really? That tells you what people will pay for. Of all the great movies of 2025? Sinners, Bugonia, It Was Just an Accident, One Battle After Another, Weapons , Eddington, The Long Walk, Predator:Badlands.. the list goes on!

The first one is still the best one imo but I do love all of them because of their simple, easy to understand and timeless story. I see it more as "we humans are bad" instead of "the white guys are bad", so that's probably why. Also visually it's top notch and has no competition so far!

I've always had an inkling that this franchise is some sort of money laundering front. No one talks about, its largely absent from the cultural zeitgeist, despite pulling in $$$. (Saw the first one in Imax, was so boring that people had their phones out and i didn't even care.)

the main hero is a white guy who transferred his consciousness to a blue body. the main villain is a white guy who transferred his consciousness into a blue body. all of the agency in this movie is white agency

*blue And the white bad guys are, very clearly, the American Military-Industrial complex. Skillfully woven into the first movie, the second two lose themselves in the CGI spectacle IMO

Awesome...tied up some loose ends...finally. a relationship on screen that is...when she was curled up on him like a cat...whew.

This movie, like the 2 other Avatar movies are a fun romp, especially in IMAX. Felt like 90 min movie, walked out feeling good. I think these movies will come into their own with proper VR headsets. I could not stand to watch one on TV.

The first one was great for 2 reasons. 1.) The visually were stunning, groundbreaking and ahead of their time. 2.) Most of the storyline was stolen from other sources. The 2nd movie was predictable and CGI couldn't cover the lack of story. The 3rd? I will never know but I assume it's also crap.

wow! it made enough that, after the 400MM price tag, everybody who worked on it could take home half a million dollars? It's nice to know those people got a good paycheck What's that? The piss-ant creatives already got their little people salaries? The studio is keeping the rest? Well I'll be.

If only movies matched reality...they do not.....but movies are the unconscious projections of the ego of human...everything not nature is human and human is fucking up royally and destroying nature quickly and this is an extinction event slowly progressing; MARK MY WORDS

I really want to see this. The 1st one pissed me off-as a Native- but at least Cameron was putting the thoughts in kids heads of the evil of actions/intentions. So I enjoyed the 2nd and I'm sure will the 3rd.
