What’s sad is that you can’t see the empathy and camaraderie between two rival teams. The guy was emotional for a minute. Random strangers took a second to make him feel better. He’ll remember this moment forever.

I saw that and got that but to see a grown man cry like that over a game will never cease to astonish me. I find it utterly ridiculous and disturbing.

Have you never been carried away by emotion? It’s a visceral reaction. It’s just not that deep. He felt something in the moment - he emoted. He was over it within 10 minutes. It’s actually very healthy to just get it out imo. Anyway it’s ok to disagree. Have a lovely day.

I’d rather see them cry than ripping a television off a wall or assaulting someone. This is a better emotion, and others shared kindness as a result.

I'm sitting in Montreal airport, people were watching a kick off last night. I cannot get over the people, the length of time, for this event. Goes on for weeks. the exuberance I'm witnessing. Had no idea they even did this? So I joined in.

Same. It’s the humanity that’s touching our hearts during a time when we’re seeing the 🤡 in the WH treat our country, and other countries, including our allies, horribly. ❤️The Iranian letter left in locker room. ❤️The Japanese guests/fans cleaning up the stadium before they left.

It's just a game. There are bigger problems afoot in the world. Remember, FIFA makes a ton of money from this. That's what it's all about. No wonder folks are crying.

With respect- Icon of British Soccer Liverpool football club coach Bill Shankly 'Some people believe football is a matter of life and death, I am very disappointed with that attitude. I can assure you it is much, much more important than that.'

This is the opposite of Trump world. People all over the planet want to love & support each other. But horrible humans like Trump and Stephen Miller encourage hate and fear of people from other countries. They are wrong. We have more in common than what separates us.

It’s amazing how this World Cup has brought us all together, rivals, fans of different teams, different nations, different religions. If only our leaders could have this integrity and set the example these fans have

This seems so amazing to us because I’ll bet no one can picture US fans doing anything like this, especially for foreigners. Sigh… we’ve lost so much

This is sportsmanship, not the bastardized American sporting community. It's not support, it's anger, hatred, and aggression. I grew up in sports with both teams/fans were just there to support inclusion and respect. Ego takes control for most in later years

People have to focus on the things you have the power to change and influence. Ultimately enough decent humans retaining their humanity and decency will restore democracy and regain control. It just may take some time. IMO it’s good to celebrate these people’s kindness and joy.

People have the power to change and influence if they get together and force the hand of the government. We can see that happening right now in Albania with the Kushner/Trump island corruption scandal. The government is walking back. People are angry and took to the streets for days. But not the US.

That's the kind of masculinity I like. All these guys are passionate. They just don't need to destroy each other over it. They understand each other's passions.

This is the beautiful, beating heart of the World Cup! Seeing fans from rival nations unite to comfort a stranger proves that football speaks a universal language of kindness. Moments like these truly showcase the very best of humanity. Pure magic! 🌏❤️⚽️

Personally I don't get it but I'm proud of the soccer community for how embracing they are of cultures, because America media does support images like this, we simply do not see or experience the humanity of Humanity.

I don't give a flying fuck about sports but I've been compelled to loosely follow the World Cup because it's so touching, heartening and refreshing to see it actually being bringing people together when everything else is trying to tear us apart. It's beautiful to see such unity, even fleetingly.
