Guys, the @nytimes.com published this just a few months ago.

✔️ Money to the Trump inaugural ✔️ Dinner at Mar-a-Lago ✔️ Getting rid of fact-checking ✔️ Putting UFC's Dana White (a key Trump ally) on Meta's board Hard not to see these moves as an effort to avoid being politically targeted by an illiberal president.

It's bending of the knee against a regime which can personally come after your company + tech has had a cargo culting problem for a long long time. one of the reasons i left big tech / silicon valley is because of the sheer group think + we are better than others attitude + echo chamber.

“being done with politics” means “the libs have not done what I personally wanted so I must of course return to the default position, republican”

Well this makes more sense now bsky.app/profile/oliv...

Scoop: It's not just the political reporters fleeing The WaPo. The health desk is also in disarray with the top two editors fleeing to other outlets & star reporter Dan Diamond entertaining his options. Money talks. Start by voting with your wallet ...

The primary battle between good and evil has ALWAYS been about unrestricted access for all to quality information. This battle is not new. It's just now the worst it's even been. Money talks. Start by voting with your wallet. Pull the plug on anything giving such corporations your personal data.

That's nonsense. It was a dumb move, but "extinction-level event for truth" is utter nonsense. The fact checking wasn't even used that frequently and appears to have had very little impact.

There's few people left of that opinion after Musk pulled all the safeguards well prior to the 2024 election. Zuckerberg just opened the floodgates to nearly 3 billion monthly active users. There's a reason why you're on Bluesky rn. It's fucking bad dude. Capitulation to evil.

Mark Zuckerberg’s spineless attempt to copy Musk by gutting content moderation reeks of desperation. Dumping fact-checkers to placate Trump-era politics and cut costs will drive away users and advertisers, leaving Meta a cesspool of AI garbage. Obsequiousness won’t mask failed leadership.

It's starting to look like the Billionaire Bro's are deciding that not having rules apply to them is the best thing for everybody. When you think you're smarter than everybody else, it's easy to rationalize just about anything.

Zuck is not really up to the task of running a major social media platform in these political times. He really should just take his money, retire to Hawaii, and be a beach bum.

on one hand, he agrees with everything the Republicans believe in. on the other, he jacks off to furry porn on the computer. this places him in a unique space - politically homeless, perhaps

Well, one bright side of the Trump Era is that they'll have less time to spread misinformation online because the cuts to Social Security will send them back to work and they'll have a lot less free time. Unless the cuts to Medicare kill them, in which case they'll have no time at all.

Come on. Are you still suggesting that I shouldn't call out hypocrisy when I see it to remind people? Also "are you surprised" is the fastest way to getting blocked by me. It's obnoxious.
