The $100M round was closed a year ago though only just announced, so you can do that now by observing what's happened since April last year.

why atmosphere being a new open network is a better abstraction normies hate the word network There’s a reason why we landed on “internet” and not “internetwork” and I’ll argue it’s because the army knew that its radio operators weren’t engineers and would feel very weird talking about networks

just riffing. for context, this is how i’ve been talking about it for years offline. it’s been effective, but i think we need a multiplicity of approaches. i personally find myself talking about the Atmosphere more with people in the ecosystem, than outside it

like, we jest, but if you don't include "this is a neutral decentralized platform that is no more governed by money than the Internet is already", people are naturally gonna suspect this is some continuation of Jack Dorsey's original mission of finding a way to sneak Bitcoin into Twitter

This feels closer to a normie elevator pitch but I think it still needs workshopping - re apps: that doesn’t seem to different from web. - not does personal websites one As a dev I understand the points there, but from other pov I don’t see value. Getting close to a “why should I care” tho

i pitch it as "imagine a google account anyone can build apps for". a little reductive but fixes the problems bulleted here. everyone has a google account, everyone knows how gapps talk to each other using data attached to the account ruling over them. take that logic & apply it to an open platform

MOQ, the protocol IETF is developing for realtime audio and video is a better starting point for discord like things. How the bits move over the net is just plumbing, doesn't matter. What matters is you can use the same account.

(2/2) ...protocols of the same shape and patterns of personal data store + atproto identity to live side by side and optimize for different things. Atproto opens the door as a meta protocol (or at least a home protocol) that can wrap other protocols in safety and accessibility both.
