After reading everything I could find and thinking about it extensively, I came away with the realization that Ed Sheeran found himself between a rock & a hard spot. Standing up to 1 owner likely escalates into multi cancellations. Giving in did the same. Either way ending unsatisfactorily for him 🤷‍♀️

This - the fact that it was Epstein Files Kraft and the billionaire NFL stadium owners club really hit a nerve taxpayers subsidized their shiny stadiums and don’t appreciate them colluding and abusing their power They punished Kapernick and Macklemore - but who else? They’ve used this tool more 💯

Such a complete and total poser and always has been. He is just a barely capable OPEN MIC player and I do not get anything about him people like or adore. I hated him before it was cool to, based on his music and that I have played guitar for years.

Poor old Benny Milekowsky has been turned into Zionism's Judas Goat. The buck stops at the Israeli people, who seem to be mostly genocidal psychopaths. Seeing the excuses turn from "Israel is good" to "Israel is good, but Bibi is bad" has been hilarious.

countercurrents.org82% of Israelis Support Ethnic Cleansing in Gaza, Poll Finds | CountercurrentsOccupied Palestine (Quds News Network)- A new poll has revealed alarming support among Israeli Jews for the ethnic cleansing in Gaza. The survey, published Thursday in Haaretz, shows that 82%

Everyone can make a difference, your voice matters. No matter who you are! Ai isn't unstoppable, neither is fascism or racism. Together we can do a whole lot. Good for these people who took a stand against genocide. That's how you do it.

I admit to feeling a bit sad for him. By all accounts, he's a really nice guy, but I think he took (very, very) bad advice from management. The Old Rule Book doesn't seem to work anymore, and people are rallying. A bit akin to the Class Consciousness that some guy wrote about in the 19th-Century.

No f that, he knew what is happening in Gaza and the heaps of dead kids, he could have done something and used his voice for good ( like he did for Ukraine). But he chose not to. That makes him not a nice guy.

Eh. I think this smells like a business decision, and the Ukrainian stance wasn't controversial at the time, but this one might be depending on the social vision (or lack thereof) of his management. He made no secret that the plagiarism lawsuit damaged him deeply. Free Market, Wrong Bet.

Bullshit. Absolute crap. Ed could have refused Kraft's orders. EVERYONE ELSE on the tour stood in solidarity with Macklemore. It hurt most of them financially way worse than Sheeran. The Beatles refused to play to segregated stadiums in the 1960's and won. Ed is a disgrace.

I agree. Evil showed its face with kraft’s actions but Ed seems to be taking all the flack. Yes he made a shit decision and is not totally blameless but the real villain here is Kraft

I’m sure gal Gadot will jump on she fancies herself as a singer and she is definitely on board with with kraft and the Epstein class!

Bye Bye, Ed. Sometimes you get one good chance to show your TRUE humanity. You failed, Ed. It ain’t Kumbaya anymore. Pick a side. Buckle up. Ticktock-Goes the Democracy clock⏰. We CAN’T tolerate genocide. Our history proves it-Americans DEMAND accountability. OUR VOTES WILL BE COUNTED!🇺🇸🦅🗽⚖️

We allow the billionaire class to support themselves with our tax money that they never pay back because they never pay taxes. Then they try to cancel anyone that they think may hurt their profits.

So now everyone is a rabid judge willing to destroy anyone who doesn't stand up to the bad guys. Really? When we go after everyone, it shows we are just as bad as the magas--do what we want, or we will destroy you. Harm those who are being harmed. Boy what a great standard.

Agreed. I can only imagine that Kraft would have sued him into oblivion, based on the tomb of a contract artists need to sign these days, if he had tried to not perform. Oligarchs own the companies that own the Artists... Not to sound too Canadian, but are some of these people new???

The default position is support, as you’re an American taxpayer in this scenario, and that money goes to Israeli munitions and diplomatic cover. So yes, unless you work to oppose it, you are unfortunately propagating it, even if you “disagree with it in your heart,” long as you’re still paying tax.

I don’t like this being the reality any more than you do, and I imagine someone who dislikes it more than both of us would be the dead Palestinians. But disliking something doesn’t make that thing false. Just means you dislike it being true.

Yeah, just break the law nothing will happen to you, this admin doesn't care about money, right? Somehow you think each individual has more power than they do. Even if we all go to prison, Isreal will still be controlling assholes, and old white men will try to keep all the power.

I don’t think Ed Sheeran is a bad guy. Yes, maybe he and his team should’ve handled this differently, but quite literally there are people whose livelihoods depend on these tours. There are often dozens of people behind the scenes who make all of this happen.

What am I missing? Ed didn’t say anything offensive. A support act chose to make political remarks. After some faux-offense some rich guys took their own political actions. Ed’s sin was that he didn’t jump on the rage-wagon and chose instead to support a musician’s freedom to speak. Is that wrong?

Macklemore is well known for his views, and song lyrics, on Palestinian rights. Sheeran invited him to tour, and I'm sure that was taken into consideration, as well as the "freedom of speech" ideals. His real fault was not having a plan for dealing with the inevitable anti-free speech factions.

This is what happens when you decide its not your issue that people are being murdered because theyre not like those who have the weapons.Enjoy the weak and miserable end to your career.Maklemore will most likely enjoy a career boost for being human enough to care and speak to it. Youre pathetic Ed

I will never understand how people with so many resources and so much to lose fail to have a good PR person on their team. This was not a hard call - he didn’t even have to take sides - just the 1st Amendment.

Sorry, but you can't say you are not political when previously you have performed in a concert and given the proceeds of a specially written song to Ukraine..

Ironic that it would have been cancelled if he took Macklemore's side and now it's getting cancelled cause he thought trying to be neutral was the better option. You can't be tolerant to intolerance otherwise it'll just lead to more intolerance

They most likely were but you have to run the theoretical that it wasn't a bluff but let's be real, rich assholes usually pander to those in power cause they don't have the balls to do anything or follow through on anything. Always call the bluff of the rich

If Ed chose to support free speech, and Kraft tried to cancel the tour, Sheeran's lawyers could've sued for breach of contract. Kraft is censoring free speech while allowing Kanye his platform of hate. Fans would've supported Ed. Other venues would have stepped in to host shows. He chose wrong.

Consequences of cowardice. He's a big enough artist that he could've pushed back. Kraft would have caved. The supporting bands had way more to lose than Sheeran and they still stood up for free speech!

Probably yes. And even if he tried, would it be "come on man, please"-tried or "dude cut the crap or I'm out"-tried? Remember he is a personal friend of epsteinfriend Robert Kraft who I have to emphasize is a friend of Epstein.

I'm now like, "do I even know this guy? What music does he play?" and I got about 42 seconds into [Shape of You] and I'm like, "what does this guy think he is a white rapper? What? No soul. No decent rhythm. No new tales to tell. Ken Nordine would laugh at him." Why do people care about this guy?

I'm torn when it comes to rap and hiphop. My jam is pop rock. I'm VERY white and I don't apologize for it, but when I DO turn to the rap world? I like em hungry and hustlin. I like Jay-Z's early stuff. Notorious BIG. Nas. Before they make the big time. Once they're rich and famous? *shrug*

My guess… 1. Ed didn't give it any thought. 2. His management didn't give it any thought. 3. Opening act didn't care to inform in advance. 4. Blowback by cancelations. 5. Ed & management panic: Cancel the opening act. 6. Blowback on cancelation of opening act. 7. Total crisis complete.

I think he did not clear it, because he knew it would not be approved , ergo: he knew what he was doing & got what he wanted - lots of publicity

You know, a lot of us have been REAL disappointed with your smite misses lately, but this one 🤌 I'll admit. I didn't have faith at first. I assumed Mack would get tossed and no one would bat an eye Got a little faith back. Epic and most righteous smite indeed

I don't know a lot about him purposely as his music doesn't appeal to me but from my understanding, he probably is one of the few "musical" acts nowadays who can actually play his own instruments and do a completely solo show. So I wouldn't be too sure. I guess we'll know by Sat. night, the 19th.
