The biggest problems with the Creator were not the fault of the concept and design teams, they held up their end of the bargain. Instead he should hire a better writer to help organize his stories.

I'm wondering if he took part in that "A.I. on the Lot" nonsense so he can get backing for a future project. He was honest about it still not working at least. Its a weird time to be making films and we have all seen people do weirder things than that for money.

For people who don't know film Edwards comments reads like support. For people that do know film.. A second unit that won't take notes is Fucking Insane if you want to spend money effectively as a producer. He used industry language to label it as gambling and he's right.

Everyone's turning ghoulish. First Soderbergh, and now Gareth Edwards. People with power seem to inevitably move towards disenfranchising jobs they don't do personally, and the people who don't exist in their bubble.

im so sick of all these egotists who just want technology (which is the prior work of other humans) to valorize themselves.

the only reason programmers don't have the regulation that mechanics do is because programmers can't casually kill as many people with fuckups, yet. or can they? idk. maybe someone should do some research, and figure out how many people programmers kill with bad code

but also aviation gets regulated because its prestige BUT IT STILL HAS ITS UNDERBELLY which i currently find myself in, but we still adhere to regs. (somewhat firmly)

i don't pencil whip. i occasionally ignore missing hardware on sidewall panels because interior shit is infuriating. i also try not to fuck the next guy. and i know interior shit is part of where that happens,

Pretty typical attitude from someone "Above the Line" who have historically sold out all the workers, crew, and artists working below the line. Just look at how SAG, the WGA, and DGA have consistently demanded solidarity from IATSE and the Animators Guild and never return it beyond lip service.

In a decade we'll probably get a separate AI market. I'm sure mankind artistry will come back big time. But nobody will trust these people so they'll stay in the AI industry. Making big money, but still.

The usual "Everything except what I do is replaceable by slop." Is it actually useful, or do you just want to not pay human creators? That might be the fastest I've ever lost all respect for a director whose work I genuinely looked forward to.
