Sources tell WIRED that Oz claimed that patients have rated the care they’ve received from an AI avatar as equal to or better than a human doctor. (Research suggests patients are actually more skeptical of medical advice given by AI.)

Any Drs who went to medical school, trained as Interns Residents while attending colleges over a decade & paying student loans want to weigh in on your fellow TV 📺 Dr. Surgeon saying WebMd & AI Avatars are equal to you in diagnostics & care of your patients 🤔 AMA States Boards of Medicine anyone?

Oz has seemingly never worked in health care policy before, but served as a physician for many years before becoming the star of The Dr. Oz Show. He has promoted a number of provably incorrect medical tips and also unsuccessfully ran for a Senate seat in Pennsylvania.

You cannot pick and chose what AI tells you: This DATA is accurate: "The new approach suggests that 22.8% of the population experience the symptoms of long COVID, a figure that may paint a more realistic picture of the pandemic’s long-term toll." www.massgeneralbrigham.org/en/about/new... (a)

So what are NIH/FDA/CDC/HHS going to do about this scrouge - which is exploding: Dr. Oz - did you ask the rest of healthcare to look at this evidence.

And let me guess, a particular Musk-led company has a medical avatar just waiting to get started? This is ALL just a GD Grift-fest. The Swamp? Forget that. Trump's Presidency is a fucking All The Billionaires Can Eat Buffet.

AI can't even drive a freaking car down the road between two lines without hitting something or someone. Do you want to rely on AI to diagnose a problem you might have through a crappy webcam? 🤔

The market doesn't want that. We want human interactions with human healthcare workers. AI has already been used by insurance companies to make decisions, and more than half the time people were wrongfully denied care as a result. Using AI as a proxy for health workers is going to kill someone.

Yeah, this is the way AI works... IIt'sallready replacing some doctors nurses. Drones replaces soldiers. Software replaces Accountatants. Robotics replace many workers who put screws in your iPhone. Some is already in place. But it's going to boom, jobs will be lost. And AI is not very smart yet.

Tapping the sign which says "LLMs should not be used in cases where accuracy is important" Yes, doctors can make mistakes, but we KNOW LLMs inherently make mistakes (hallucinations) I would not trust my healthcare to an LLM

I’ve never before seen someone in a profession, so quickly push for the elimination of humans in his own profession. That’s…crazy. Auto workers didn’t advocate for robots. Umpires don’t want auto balls and strikes. But this doctor, wants to reduce the number of doctors?!

Do it. Fucking do it. 15 yrs as a nurse, worked through Covid, now I fight insurance behemoths for abusive patients who tell me to ‘do my research’. At this point AI can have it. I’m tired of being essential.

We call this shit the IKEA model of market capture - here's some thoughts on what's coming and how to fight back 👇

Industrial production is coming to economic realms that have so far been resisting it, from driving to research, the law, or therapy. For the time being, that will probably take the IKEA model: compete not on quality (AI will continue to be unreliable), but on price. Leave the high end markets 1/n

Most frontline healthcare workers perform some level of manual labor (lifting and moving patients, etc). How do they plan to replace that with AI exactly?

I'm an atheist, so I hope for a more earthly intervention. Like maybe all of our former allies ganging up on us to take over the country. It might be painful, but we could come out of it with healthcare, managed parental leave and vacation time, and so much more 🥹

If you don’t know anything, you can suggest just about anything! Let’s replace frontline workers with dogs! Much cuter! They reduce stress! Let’s replace telehealth operators with dinosaurs from Turok 64! Take away those icky ambulances, replace them with Crazy Taxi drivers! A ride AND a show!

It is not inconceivable that the medical assistant who takes the history, vital signs is automated. It's also a shame that most of humans we initially contact at a visit aren't trained to assess more (pallor, movements, grooming, alertness) about patients. RVUs up + costs down = the new medicine.
