I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

They’re not rejecting Trumpism. They’re fleeing the consequences.

I hope one day the American voter will realize that a presidential election is not something for your entertainment. It is serious, millions of lives are at stake, and the office should be occupied by serious people. Get your kicks elsewhere. There are plenty of entertainment options out there.

Virtually every time there is a vote in congress now, there are a handful of Democrats voting with Republicans. Our lack of leadership is telling and obvious. Congressional Dems must demand new leadership. We all must demand it.
