Corporations are a collusion between big business and government. They go to the government for their papers, making them an equal to individuals or an artificial individual if you will. Thing is they didn't used to be. Early in this nation businesses were expected to be good citizens and work towards better community. Following De Officiis from ancient Roman Cicero. But that died out with Milton Friedman declaring the only morality of Corporations is profit.

It wasn't always like this. Businesses used to be charters that had to work to benefit society while also making a profit. That changed and shifted to only serving the investors and making ever increasing profits despite a finite set of resources.

Then the fines are not enough. Lock up the ones responsible. Delist the orgs. Try launching an IPO with those consequences for being shitty corporates on the horizon. They might try a lot harder to be a lot less dickish.

Alternate option until CU is ended: Treat corporations EXACTLY like people. If the crime requires a jail term, the CEO and entire C-Suite stand in proxy for the company and assume all assigned punishment, up to and including the death penalty for capital cases. They want it, they should get it ALL.

Elections should be publicly financed by tax dollars, and each candidate gets a set amount. Once you spend it, that's it - no more money. Also need to cut down on the campaigning season. People tune out because they get sick of ads 2 years before the actual election.
