serling would have so much to say about our current moment...

g0m@g0m.bsky.social

A world where a twist ending is repurposed as a video title. where a thing's climax has been removed, leaving an advertisment for the gap where it used to be. such things are commonplace in. the twilight zone

i don't believe anyone has "good-faith" concerns about trans women in sports in 2026. there's been too much time to hear the actual evidence, the actual people affected, and the role the debate plays in attempts to purge trans people from American life. anybody picking that side has made a choice

enough of this shit

A whole lot of stuff had to happen for the Knicks to win but if you are the Spurs you will be thinking about this moment in particular for a very long time. At this moment, there are like 50 ways you can win the game and maybe one or two ways you can lose.

i know there are all sorts of useful implementations of the technology these chatbot companies make. but nothing i have seen has convinced me the mass availability of subsidized chatbots themselves isn't a fucking calamity of the highest order.

i’m deleting my repost of a fake account impersonating an nba reporter. i didn’t look close enough and i was fooled, and that’s on me. the basketball court does NOT fold up like a backgammon board after the game and the players do NOT sleep in it until the next game

because that's how everything works now. If something happens that is inconvenient for your political beliefs, it's fake news, an AI hoax, a false flag, etc. Liberals and leftists do this less often than conservatives, but the gap is closing fast

I don't get why a bunch of people on BlueSky instantly concluded this assassination attempt was fake? I mean, like, I guess it could be, wouldn't be the strangest thing to have happened ever. But probably not, surely? What would even be the point of that? Just - why the weird conspiracy brain stuff?

my favorite kinds of pictures and videos from this whole thing are the ones where you can see the interior of the capsule in the foreground. it is the best way to understand the scale of what you’re seeing.

Absolutely incredible. NASA Astronaut Reid Wiseman, who commanded Artemis II, took this footage from the far side of the Moon with his iPhone. Watch with sound on.

i’m a real writer and i fucking hate writing lol

Kevin M. Kruse@kevinmkruse.bsky.social

I think the reason AI propagandists are so flustered by the fact that no real writer wants to use their idiotic tools is that they themselves don't enjoy writing. They see it as a boring arduous chore to be avoided, while real writers actually enjoy writing and actually care about the quality of it.

you either die the round mound or live long enough to see yourself become the role model

Netanyahu sucks, AIPAC sucks, but "we started this war due to pressure from Israel and its powerful American lobby" is just code for "blame Jews." Trump wasn't forced to do this. Trump's supporters—like Kent—weren't forced to elect him and embolden him. They're not absolved of any responsibility.

ICE took the flower man in Echo Park 40 minutes ago. He’s at this corner every day. I’ve bought flowers from the man and woman here for anniversaries and birthdays. Lemmy loves to smell them whenever we walk by in the mornings. I was just at the street corner 15 minutes before it happened. Fuck.

my Blackest opinion is that the presumption of conflict between "America has a long and deeply rooted history of violence" and "we can and should fight against today's version of that, as did those who came before us" is less a philosophical debate about how to treat the past and more a skill issue

This is why calling them weird creeps was so effective, not just to damage the leadership psychologically, but to make it extremely socially embarrassing to be a known supporter of them in the general public. The point is to make society at large view them as they are, not the force they wish to be.

Personally, I think one of the enduring qualities of great art is that it resonates in different ways across time, geography, etc. For example—a lot of my favorite 19th century novels (James Wharton etc) wrestle with ideas that are applicable to the questions of today’s social media age.

emperorcheese.bsky.social@emperorcheese.bsky.social

Or it's an example of people forcing their interests and fixations on material that is deliberately not about that. Sometimes the author misses the subtext they didn't perceive. Other times some in the audience bring their baggage with them, being so focused on it. I'm leaning to the latter here.
