Native American Rights Fund is organizing against #BAAJA: "BAAJA attempts to strip Tribes of the limited opportunities they currently have to engage as sovereign governments in project permitting, even going so far as to stripping cultural protection and Tribal participation in the NHPA."

The permitting deal would fundamentally reconfigure the energy and environmental protection landscape. With GHG costs/benefits predicated on speculative assumptions/bets such that modeling is virtually impossible. And yet the Senate wants to bulldoze this through in a lame duck session. It's 🤯.

Mail voting rules stayed put, so now comes the wildly radical part: actually making a plan. Check registration, know the deadlines, request what you need, and vote. Democracy works considerably better when citizens participate in it. #GetReadyToVote

The race for AI data center growth shouldn’t mean weaker safeguards on pollution. Former EPA official Walter Mugdan explains why strong enforcement matters when families’ health is at risk. What’s being weakened? Read the full report at the link in the comments.

Dreyer’s Grand Ice Cream voluntarily recalled their Outshine Fruit Bars on Sunday, officials said, out of concern that five flavors of the frozen treats may be contaminated with glass. No injuries linked to the recalled products have been reported.

I am intrigued by the replacement of the bench slats at Lincoln and Marion Parks on Capitol Hill with purple heartwood - i am told by the park service person this is the original look. But also curious about who made this decision and when, and at what cost v other needed repairs.

EPA has formally repealed all federal climate pollution protections for cars and trucks. Now Congress is trying to go after long-established state standards for greenhouse gas and smog-forming vehicle emissions. #momsky

An aging Michigan coal plant was supposed to close. Now, the decision to force it to stay open another 90 days is on August 16th. Communities will pay twice: through electricity costs and the health impacts of toxic pollution. Tell EPA: Put our health first. Petition link in comments.

Anyone who questions opposition to data centers should listen to this story. The owner so blithely says they’ll buy homes, as if people’s attachment to their community and home is nothing.

Great news! #electric school buses are quiet clean rides for kids and communities and can be so much more!

Parked but not idle: The buses “will charge up their nearly 200-kilowatt-hour batteries overnight, when the power supply is at its cleanest & cheapest, then send energy back to the grid from 4 pm to 7 pm on days when the grid is strained. The district will earn revenue for the power it shares…”

Republicans love to talk about “living within our means” when it comes to spending—except for the Pentagon, whose budget they want to increase by *40%*. Meanwhile, their cuts to the Forest Service are having a huge impact on research + wildfire management. The damage they’re doing is incalculable.
