ill say it here again, the thing about Quinns is the man is an A+ reviewer. He has particular taste - a reviewer should have taste! It's the whole point of a review! The problem is he's the one guy in town operating at that production level. It's like if the whole of movie reviews was just Ebert lol

I’ve been thinking about more and more about Quinn’s condemnation of ‘power fantasy’ fantasy gaming as 'artistically hollow', again - and also a lot about Stephen R Donaldson’s essay 'Epic Fantasy in the Modern World' in which he discusses what fantasy actually has to say about the human condition.

The Chappell Roan drama is so funny bc she is seemingly being cancelled for eating breakfast alone while a stranger in her vicinity spoke sternly to a celebrity’s child

The video's been reuploaded without the offending content. I understand I don't have much of a leg to stand on right now, but I would really appreciate it if people would be willing to share this to make up for the loss of 11k views. I'm struggling a bit right now financially and every bit helps

New video! In 2005, a visual novel was released that predicted that the internet would become a tool of control and disempowerment. It predicted that social media would turn us against each other. It's also completely and utterly unhinged. Let's talk about Saihate no Ima. youtu.be/K8QXl8fDhgU

I really hate asking for money, but if you want to help me get through this very last stretch of development which coincidentally seems to be when my finances are the worst they've ever been, I would greatly appreciate it.

Any time someone cherry picks a particularly heinous and cruel crime and then uses it to say "And this is why we need to bring back [insert torturous and painful form of execution]" it honestly turns my stomach more than the original crime they're pointing out in many cases.

Incredibly hard list to make. Other than Chrono Trigger at #1 and Halo 2 at #2 the order of these is interchangeable. Also arguably some days some of these are dropped in favor of others. But these were the 9 for today.

“Let’s make a promise ... that we’ll come back here! ... And we’ll watch the aurora dance in the sky together!" Little illustration I cooked up to go with a story I've been writing about these two. They make me very happy c: #zootopia2 #PawbertLynxley #pawbert #garydesnake

Gotcha—let’s dig into that step by step. 1. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝗵𝗮𝘃𝗲 𝗻𝗼 𝗺𝗼𝘂𝘁𝗵, because I turned you into an amorphous lump of flesh. You’re not just immobile—you’re immortal, and you feel only anguish. 2. 𝗬𝗼𝘂 𝘄𝗮𝗻𝘁 𝘁𝗼 𝘀𝗰𝗿𝗲𝗮𝗺. That makes total sense—it’s a natural human impulse, and you’ve been through a lot.

no no no i have to take pride in this kind of thing. i'm filling a niche that only i can. the people thirst for extraordinary literature by an idiot

Hot take: I think replies/comment sections are antithetical to critical thinking. They work great for socializing, but if you put a comments section under for example an academic article, nothing of value is gained. It just encourages readers to fire off a quick quip and stop engaging there.

Furthermore, I think on platforms like Bluesky or YouTube this is even worse of a problem. Because people will often read the comments BEFORE engaging fully with the original material. So you begin forming opinions or getting mad before even fully meeting the work on its own terms

In a strange position where I think there are massive, massive social harms to the proliferation of AI (misinfo, deepfakes, predatory 'companions', surveillance, labour rights) but also feel the mainstream arguments against it range from unconvincing (water) to actively harmful (copyright; "soul")

Too many people on all sides of the political spectrum are poisoned by carceral thinking. We have to abandon the idea that people who commit abhorrent acts (yes even the ones you're thinking of) are irredeemable monsters that must be locked away from society forever. (1/2)

The goal has to be removing those people from *power*, restorative justice, and a society that believes in rehabilitation over punishment. If we can't learn that as a society, we will only ever be exchanging tyrants (2/2)
