yup.
This week’s main story is about how more and more white nationalists, antisemites, and Nazi sympathizers seem to be integrating into the Republican Party, how some of them are currently running for office, and how old you can be for JD Vance to consider you “a very young boy.”

This is a confession to treason. Elon Musk, a private individual and not an elected official, hijacked U.S. national defence policy to harm partner Ukraine and help enemy Russia. www.cbc.ca/news/world/u...

I cannot stress to you enough how there were entire news cycles in 2024, driven entirely by Republicans, about how Democrats were trying to take away your cheeseburgers.
RFK Jr. suggests Americans can more easily afford groceries if they start eating liver instead of beef: "Most of the cheap cuts of meat are very inexpensive. You can buy liver or the cheap cuts."

To avoid charges of politicized prosecutions of Trump officials, Dems should also revive the independent counsel act to ensure that officials of any administration are prosecuted not by the DOJ under any President but by an independent prosecutor. www.pilotonline.com/2023/08/24/o...

Any Trump threats against Russia are entirely performative for the rubes. He will not do anything to hurt Putin, he wants to be Putin.
If Trump was a horse with a broken leg...... Hey Donnie are you going to put a 200% tariff on all that Russian diesel. you douche canoe shit bag.... Trump threatened Ukraine and Russia with 200% tariffs if they do not sign a peace agreement. unn.ua/en/news/trum...

i wonder what percentage of the electorate now understands that this man and maybe 75 other people like him are actively trying to destroy our lives. that he is the biggest national security threat we have faced, even moreso than bin laden or whoever. its got to be dawning on more and more people
NEW: Elon Musk gave his super PAC $76 million in just two weeks of October, and more than half of its new candidate spending went to one race: the Texas Senate fight against James Talarico. He’s now given more than $445 million this cycle, far more than he spent electing Trump.

This is the big thing I want to hammer home with my work here: we on the left are not *better* than conspiracy theorists. We are not *above* propaganda. We are not *too smart* to fall for scams. People like AltNPS know how to exploit our fears and manipulate our anxieties, and we need to be alert.
What's that saying about how being aware of propaganda doesn't make you immune to it? I followed that Alt National Park account for a while because I wanted some kind of hope too.

Conflicts of interest abound. This extraction is draining the Democratic base rather than investing in the party’s long term health, biasing candidate positions in favor of factions with big money, and weakening the party’s stance against corruption. Tough to beat authoritarianism in this situation

The clear implication of this is that the U.S. military is also at the mercy of Musk’s whims. He cannot be allowed to keep control over Starlink. He has demonstrated that he can’t be trusted with this power.

The FCC threatening broadcasters for airing specific political data is a chilling content-based restriction on speech, which federal courts subject to extreme judicial review and the commission would almost certainly lose such cases, according to First Amendment scholars.
