A distinction I hadn't thought of before I heard Schneier, one of the best security minds out there, say it: A lot of the problems we have with AI are mostly problems with capitalism itself.

Nathan Sanders and Bruce Schneier say we must distinguish AI's technological problems from its capitalism problems. Developers are solving the first, they argue, while leaving the second to market incentives. Structural reforms will be necessary to steer industry toward the public interest.

Seems worth noting how no Democratic Congress member (as far as I can tell) has actively spoken out against the political persecution of the Prairieland anti-ICE protesters. It should go without saying that treating antifascism as terrorism is a serious threat to Democracy.

THERE IS AN ALTERNATIVE TO SUICIDE BY OLIGARCHY. HUMANITY COULD ORGANIZE ITSELF AGAINST THE DEATH OF OUR PLANET/OUR ONLY HOME. WE COULD CREATE A NEW ECONOMY ON GREEN ENERGY AND HEALING THE DAMAGE WE HAVE DONE TO EACH OTHER AND OUR PLANET. THERE IS ENOUGH. ALL WE NEED IS THE WILL TO LIVE.
