I'm sooo incredibly excited to see people build things with this!! Thank you so much to @hayleigh.dev, I've never had so much fun and I think we built something really special here 💕

hayleigh@hayleigh.dev

For the last three months I've been working with @joshi.monster on the next major release of Lustre... It's here! You can read the announcement post here: hexdocs.pm/lustre/annou... We did so much this release,, 3x faster(!), better native forms, lifecycle effects, built-in debounce, ...

Really nice illustration of the cycle of developing an application, identifying concepts and extracting them by @becca.monster !

that feeling when you have a research question and someone literally published on your exact problem 3 days ago I'm not even disappointed this is amazing thank you

some of you people arent even listening to masayoshi takanaka's 1971 jazz fusion masterpiece The Rainbow Goblins right now

i love being correct now if only my boss would agree 😔

Harvard just dropped a study AI productivity in software engineering and it found the average increase in productivity from using Claude code is.....zero and for exactly the reasons you'd think fion.ac/jellyfish.pdf

Very sad to see Rick get driven off of Bluesky by sharing a report of using Claude Code to do something cool and useful. The absolute vitriol towards software developers trying out LLMs—which are very good at writing code, mind you—is so tiresome.

Rick Brewster@rickbrew.bsky.social

I won't be posting here anymore. The toxicity is fucking ridiculous. I'm very disappointed.

this is a very unpopular opinion but banning clients is so defeatist where's your ambition computers are incredibly fast, your website should basically only ever be bottlenecked by network or disk speeds 11tb/day is 135mb/s, that's a number achievable by a shell script on a single core

Filippo Valsorda@filippo.abyssdomain.expert

I know it's unpopular to say because the scrapers are evil and stupid (and most of them are!) but I can't get over how small the numbers are in all of these posts. 18M/day is 200 qps, and there isn't even a bandwidth cost argument. Those are Raspberry Pi numbers. people.kernel.org/monsieuricon...

Why are blue sky users always like ohh email, no I use homoskeeter, it's a post-quantum post-agi reimplementation in gleam that lets you send messages telepathically over atproto and you open the repo and it was made like 3 weeks ago and has about ~2000 active users

are you thrashing out? get your totally objective, absolutely accurate score now. thrashmeter.bisks.net somehow i'm at 82/100. anything below that is boring, tedious, you're just not getting bsky. anything above that is unhinged, deranged, you need to touch grass.

A* is merely regurgitating a path-like answer. The solution was already in its platonic form. It's impossible for any algorithm to produce new information.

At the end I had nothing to do with it and I'm thankful to @hayleigh.dev for organizing but I will still claim credit for getting the ball rolling 😌 Anyways see you there!

hayleigh@hayleigh.dev

london gleamlins, come join us on the 18th of august for a meetup! @renatillas.dev will be talking to us about event sourcing, and i'll of course be preaching the good word about #atproto and maybe there'll be a little surprise launch too 🤭 luma.com/vacn20ag

By 2022 Google Translate had been using transformer models for several years. By 2014 Facebook was using deep convolutional neural nets (DeepFave) for face detection. Literally the things you think were “before LLMs” are either basically indistinguishable from LLMs or their direct predecessors.

got a new thermal receipt printer? don't know what to do with it? try printing a live feed of the atproto firehose! you certainly won't regret printing a live feed of the atproto firehose

are there any gleam sympthatic orgs in london that might donate some space for a meetup next month 👀 what if we made it atproto flavoured 👁️👄👁️

So everyone should go star the compiler so it gets first place, but then It would be really cool if one of my projects could be 4th to make it entirely Gleam 🥹👉👈 I made the default Gleam array implementation! tangled.org/becca.monste... and a really cool task pool too! tangled.org/becca.monste...

tangled.orgbecca.monster/iva fast, general-purpose, persistent array structure for Gleam.

You should all star this, mostly because I think it would be funny if the trending section was entirely Gleam projects
