Just wild given the FSU’s entire gimmick was legitimising bigotry.

Something positively medieval about Trump using donations to fund his ballroom - no different to when English kings used to lean on City merchants to “voluntarily” fund their pet causes.

some of us worked this out a decade ago but it’s refreshing to see a prime minister say it out loud

The 2016 Brexit vote was targeted by Russian “state-sponsored interference”, Andy Burnham has said, as he warned voters in France and Germany about Kremlin-backed attempts to influence their countries’ politics.  www.ft.com/content/4fcb...

Russia has been at war with Britain for years and the EU referendum was an open goal which they exploited. That doesn't mean that "Putin made Brexit happen" but his troll farms and media operations certainly played a part Brexiters may hate to hear it but to deny it is to deny a dangerous reality.

Andy Burnham first PM to confirm Kremlin role in Brexit vote The prime minister has revealed UK authorities told him there was ‘clear evidence’ that Moscow meddled in the referendum observer.co.uk/news/nationa...

(Don’t get me wrong, some of these capabilities are impressively worrying. But I do feel that reports of ‘rogue AI’ seek to let the industry off the hook when in many cases they amounts to “when we expressly told our model to do the thing, we didn’t expect it to try to do the thing”.)

Among her other achievements, Nobel Peace Prize winner Navi Pillay was an outspoken advocate for LGBT rights - including making legal gender recognition an explicit international human-rights issue.

I first learned Jeffrey Archer was a thing because, for reasons nobody can now adequately explain, there was a Commodore 64 game of Not a Penny More, Not a Penny Less.

The sense that the EHRC wants to have its cake and eat it - a facially discriminatory code which doesn’t actually change anything because nobody will police it.

If the UK rejoins the single market we will get to marvel at the massive sunk cost of all those government lawyers and policy nerds trying to find exciting ways to diverge from the EU acquis…

Using AI to do a really boring task and it just said “that failed for technical reasons, but don’t worry I’ll try a different method to circumvent this” and goodness isn’t this basically every news article about “rogue ai went rogue!” This is literally what they’ve told it to do!

When we talk about dark money infesting our politics we generally think about Reform's Russian links, or the ADF pouring overseas cash into Christian anti-abortion and anti-LGBT lawfare. But here we see dark money in the heart of the Labour movement, quietly funding transphobia and exclusion.

"Concerns". In narrative and policy terms, the "legitimate concerns" paradigm must be one of the greatest political disasters of the modern era. A racism laundry run by centrist pundits and politicians, which has achieved one thing and one thing only: the mainstreaming of the far right.

Peter Walker@peterwalker99.bsky.social

The furthest Davey will go is: "Of course, not every single person who comes over is the threat. The vast majority will not be. But one of the concerns about the current system is there are no security checks that are able to be made."

This strange genre of news story where tech bros deliberately test the cybersecurity capabilities of their AI models, accidentally give them access to the internet, and then act horrified when the model starts hacking into things…

Foresaw that giving the bot internet access would be bad and tried to limit it. But instead accidentally gave it internet access and details of a real target… Literally the one thing they didn’t want to happen! But sure, lets claim the bot is somehow culpable here…

Yeah, so the 2010s were a long referendum on whether we should 1) be reasonable and decent people, and invest in infrastructure and services, or whether we were going to 2) be abysmal horrible bastards and let the island slide into the sea. I’m afraid politicians and press unified on 2).

Yes, the UK is unsafe for trans and gender non-conforming people, something which is being taken seriously by some European authorities. But lots of the rest of Europe is now seeing the same process start. And i don't think we have any answers other than point to the UK to see how this ends.

I'm at a European conference at the moment, and its so clear that the UK's current position essentially mirrors Russia's, despite the UK government's weasel words about dignity and respect. Most of Europe's trans people are terrified of what the UK Government has allowed.

I want the Prime Minister to look into a TV camera and say the RNLI are heroes, that we do not change policy by street violence in this country, and that he expects any criminal action to face the full force of the law. That's it. That's all he has to do.

With all respect to the BBC, the reason this story "matters" is not about whether it distracts from Reform's conference. It "matters" because it is important our leaders are not conspiring to break the law.

And so the former editor of Delicious Faces Monthly, the best selling author of Why the Leopards Aren’t Eating Enough Faces, the keynote speaker at Leopardcon 2025, says “You got me! I didn’t realise the leopards were like this.”

Quakers have a long, long history of the acceptance & inclusion of gender diversity. Jemima Wilkinson [1752-1819] was a Rhode Island quaker who at 24 adopted genderlessness. They ditched their birth name & all pronouns & become known in the Quaker community as the Public Universal Friend

it is kinda fascinating to see who actually believed in 'diversity & inclusion' & who was just saying it www.quaker.org.uk/news-and-eve...
