Pedants Corner aka RIP BBC subs. Heading says whale takes in 'thousand of tonnes of water' But 18K gallons is a bit >180Klbs of water(adjusted for sea water density) =a bit >80 tons. (Plus "on off" typo). Trust is based on reliability accuracy and care of reporting. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

I also feel that "Charles Barry built Parliament really quickly and now it's falling down" might not prove the point she thinks it proves.

We are just out of a summer with five record breaking heatwaves which literally killed thousands and bought climate change up close and personal for millions for the first time. This should be the Greens' big moment in history. But instead they're doing this. www.bbc.co.uk/news/article...

So nearly a David and Goliath moment. 3 mins after this pic taken Richmond (salary bill £0) dropped the ball with Ealing (salary bill reportedly£4m) line at their mercy. Would have drawn level. Heartbreaker. Ealing went down the other end and scored twice. Final score 36-19. What could have been!

We have about 2 years to stop Britain turning into feeble, broke, absurd, malfunctioning and risible version of the worst of the United States.

25 years ago tonight I went to bed in my Washington DC home not believing what I'd seen that day: the Pentagon burning; F-16s screaming over the Potomac at 150 feet; a city gridlocked in its roads and its mind; a society unable to answer 'Why Us?'; war in American; a worldview brought tumbling down.

Hurrah for the Blackshites!

Daniel Thomas / Danny Tommo has today marched his private army of blackshorts to Daily Mail HQ to demand a new house for his mum within 48 hrs, after they doorstepped her for a feature on him. Apparently he plans to blockade them + cry at them until they do Bet those lads are glad of the balaclavas

Turns out the Daily Mail are enemies of the people too.

Netflix has put its prices up by more than 10 per cent for UK viewers. Maybe now people will start to question what it gives them that the free services of ITVX, Channel 4 and BBC iPlayer don't. The answer is, in my opinion, not much for up to £21 a month.

Dolly Parton, all the good things about America. Kind, generous, selfless, sincere, moral, talented, imaginative, a distributor not a hoarder, a teacher not a taker. The antithesis of the man who normally hogs America's headlines and global attention. Bathe in the memory of a lovely American.

I took this photograph in County Kerry this afternoon and everyone will think it is a postcard. But things like this do happen here. Free the Portmagee Two!

The trouble with government by TV personalities is that they don’t fully grasp that things happen even when the cameras are off.

Having received a few of these letters, including from Carter Ruck, always worth looking at what the lawyer is willing to commit itself to vs where it says "as instructed by our client". Also, how much is pompous language vs how much is substantive factual denial. Creating fear is the point.

Why was the Jason Arday story broken by a racist blogger and not the mainstream press? Because Times Higher Education was intimidated off the story by a letter from notorious libel firm Carter-Ruck. I'm publishing the letter. Its central claim may be false.

The BBC weather forecast said there was a 0% chance of what just happened happening. It has now stopped happening. I know it has a name, but I can't remember it. And now it's gone. And the BBC says there is a 0% chance of it happening again. Pain.

While we fret about AI, are we all missing a more immediate threat to humanity's future? Has anyone even considered the ramifications of allowing an intergalactic space warrior to sit in our legislature? What if he sits on the defence select cttee? "Intergalactic!" "Warrior!" - Wake up UK!!!

Pretty clear that Andy Burnham is going to spend the first few months of his premiership laying out what a mess he has inherited. Or was that the other guy?
