Brazil going the way of South Korea. Basically around the world women are desperately trying to keep power out of the hands of incredibly stupid fascistic grifters while men keep trying to hand it over. Men are an embarrassing cringe gender.

Incredible gender difference in voting intention in Brazil.

As turnout in Texas nears 3 million votes, Hispanic turnout is now exceeding presidential levels. More Hispanics have voted than did at this point in the 2024 presidential election. What's driving this huge increase? Young voters.

Cooking. Although air fryers might be considered a fad/trend, when you step back the small tabletop electric oven is a total revolution in convenience and energy efficiency, while also allowing those who might not have had the space for or money an electric oven to cook with more than just a hob.

Social media loves talking about how everything is getting worse. But what’s something that you’ve seen get _better_ in your lifetime?

One would be good and the other would be bad because one cause is good and the other is bad. We are not in the realm of procedural justice concerns anymore, liberalism is not obligated to be neutral on the question of its own existence.

People demanding Zuck be hauled before Congress to explain why No Kings insta was suspended... how would you feel if MAGA GOP hauled MSNow execs to explain why they covered Trump the way they do? Both are editorial choices protected by the First Amendment. If this annoys you...

were the machines in fact close to human-level consciousness in the mid-1960s? if not, why were so many people so convinced that they were, and why are we now immune from whatever tendency drove that view?

I'm begging @teamtalaricohq.bsky.social to run against Musk. He's an unpopular and creepy white nationalist asshole billionaire whose approval rating in most polls is 20 points underwater. You can mock Paxton for needing to be bailed out *and* mock the puppet master pulling his strings.

Elon Musk is single-handedly funding the Ken Paxton campaign:

I have never before seen a political hit dragged out this long. Texas Tribune is now reporting on the FOURTH(!) leaked clip from a Paxton fundraiser from two weeks ago. "The person who recorded it declined to share the full conversation. It was unclear how many more leaks there may be."

Canada is refusing to issue ISBNs to books primarily generated with AI. This illustrates both the urgency of the problem of the growing flood of slop books, and also the toothlessness of addressing it on the honor system without there also being consequences for lying

I really love this chart. I'm guess that the correlation here (.85) is about as big as you would find for any other variable. Also, a less serious scholar than @tesler.bsky.social (namely me) would have made a crude Freudian reference to the slope of the line.
