Canterbury: nitrate rising in 62% of the regional council's 300 test wells. Tens of thousands more dairy cows consented this year. The council has voted to end its nitrate "state of emergency". NZ's drinking water limit is 11.3 mg/L. Danish research links bowel cancer risk to levels under 1. #nzpol

Politicians get headlines for announcing a new building, headlines for the shovel pics, headlines for the opening - but no headlines for hiring the people to staff it. So they don't.

National is all in on AI. Data centres. Oil industry. Cigarettes. Selling off our National parks. Austerity. Terrible water and food quality. See what USA is like now? That’s NZ further down the line unless we stop them. Vote like your life depends on it. #TurnLeft

The right's line this election is "why should you get to vote if you aren't organised enough to enrol". Next term, if Paul Goldsmith has any say, it'll be, why should you get to vote if you have a conviction. Or aren't a citizen. Or receive a benefit. Or don't own property. Or don't have a job.

The next Nat/ACT/NZF government will apply a scorched earth approach to public services, institutions and assets, claiming that re-election indicates popular support for the social vandalism clearly on display in their first term. The next iteration will be our own little version of Trump 2. #NZpol

The Green Party have the evidence based policies that would deal with all the problems facing this country. Give them your party vote. You won't regret it #nzpol

I don’t know if you will have noticed this. In the midst of an absolute crisis in every level of our health system, the Green Party announced a policy to massively boost funding to Health with a $30Bn investment over four years.

It’s okay to go on the Platform and other extremist radio stations that are homophobic, racist, misogynist and routinely abusive towards vulnerable groups/people in a way that garners violence towards women, minorities and the vulnerable but not okay to talk to gangs. #nzpol #rightwhiteway

Ah yes, what do we have today? The Greens committing to a public health system that works for all of us. Chippy kicking himself in the dick while throwing wahine Maori under the bus. All the parties on the right scrambling to be as awful as possible. Tough choices. #nzpol

I'm fairly certain that for every reason why gangs are deemed "bad" there's a corresponding example of a white guy doing the same thing without getting the same response. #nzpol

Who wants two weeks of blanket media coverage on the grubby little details of this despicable political coverup case? 🙋‍♀️ A vote for National is a vote for kiddy fiddlers! See how that works. 🙄 #nzpol #OneTermGovernment #NZ #Aotearoa #ForAllOfUs

Given that previous justifications for lack of coverage of David Seymour's association to Tim Jago rested on Seymour's claim that he didn't know Jago very well, this should immediately ring alarm bells and have journalists asking some serious questions

Here’s today’s Chorus. I’ve opened it up for all. National backers say Luxon would be rolled if he refused to deal with Opportunity; Erica Stanford (or Mark Mitchell) would then negotiate to be PM, if Willis & Bishop missed list seats, as expected #nzpol thekaka.substack.com/p/will-we-ha...

New Zealand’s High Court has ruled that the ban on new puberty blocker prescriptions for trans young people was unlawful and discriminatory. The decision could give fresh momentum to calls to reverse restrictions in the UK! 🤞

Bob McCoskrie saying there's no 'settled scientific consensus" on puberty blockers for trans teens, as a justification for a ban, is like me saying that because I don't believe in God means that his whole religion should be banned. The guy does not understand science. #nzpol

Remember when Aotearoa cared about other people? When we donated to John Campbell and he and Campbell live fixed Evan Hill’s teeth? And there was a fund left over to help others! We were a country, a real country We need a government who care again #NZPol

If David Seymour is going to say the Greens are the party of shoplifters and migrant exploiters, does that mean ACT is the party of sexual abusers? Just applying the same metric here. #nzpol

I like to remind myself of this little fact when I think about what it means to be a superpower. Do you know how Americans have been complaining about gas prices, and we hear them talk about how crazy it is that it reached $4 per gallon? That's the equivalent of NZ$1.80 per litre.

Reminder: If voting didn't matter Luxon wouldnt be doing everything he can to make it harder for you to do it. He purposely chose a date he knew would be harder for most kiwis to vote.
