The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy is about many things and for @brawler1993.bsky.social, it's about the lengths we're willing to go to avoid extinction and whether it's actually worth it.
Virtue and a Sledgehammer is an equally angsty and somber exploration of the complex relationship between love and hate, asking big questions about the enduring nature of humanity without shying away from confronting our destructive nature.

"Developers need to treat Early Access like a real launch, because players do" – Early Access games are on the rise, but so are player expectations https://bit.ly/4zfrXbx
I’m working on a project where I’m looking to reach out and build connections with individuals, teams, and organizations on the continent and abroad to spotlight/represent the African #gaming & #esports market and its influences in video games, gaming culture and more.
Not that I didn't trust the translation, but it was very clearly abridged so I wanted to check the source. Unfortunately, Uchikoshi being an AI bro is very real:

Part of me wants to believe that by the time his next game comes out, he'll have wised up but there'll always be a nagging feeling in the back of my head asking "Did he use AI anyway and is just not telling us coz he knows people hate it?"
Hit the point in Onimusha where the game keeps suggesting I lower the difficulty or put the action prompts on but my stubborn ass is gonna kindly ignore them
Omg no, he was so young. Damn. He was such a talented voice actor. It’s on the mind because I literally just watched it yesterday, but he got asked to do the taken monologue as porky pig and its a masterpiece
Veteran voice actor Eric Bauza, the modern voice behind Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and dozens of other characters, has passed away at age 46. / #EricBauza#BugsBunny#LooneyTunes
As a Zero Escape fan, this is the gooooood shit. Especially how it analyses Zero Time Dilemma, easily the most contentious lot of the three games.
I also just love the title and how the opening paragraphs read a bit like a Zero Escape character giving one of their monologues.
Personally wasn't a fan of BioWare's stuff but man it shutting alongside Id Software getting nuked has really made things quite apparent this year huh.
Monumental losses.
Resharing this as I think we should shout as loud as possible about the work we do in the current climate. Showing retro gaming articles and reviews like this some love help more than you think.

hey, i guess we're good to say we're in this now?
i wrote about trans genocide. and also tied it in with something else that made anyone who read the essay tell me it was a 'gut punch' (positive)
pick up lock on 7 to read it and many, many other incredible essays
I went hands on with Stranger Than Heaven last week. Despite my issues with RGG nowadays, I wanted to give this a fair shake but, man, this is shaping up to be a thoroughly mediocre experience.

Fuck this.
I hate this government so fucking much. Fascist pricks willing to sell us and our dignity to oversea Nazis.
I am non-binary. I don't need a government document to tell me that. Eat shit and go fuck yourself.

This is from the demo for a rhythm game/visual novel called Morpho Reverie. It's got a neat story hook, but trying to play the songs on anything above the easy difficulty feels like an exercise in misery if you don't have perfect hand eye coordination.
Penguin Colony is not messing around with its statement on the Palestinian genocide, banning sale in Israel and calling out the games industry in-game https://bit.ly/4zHsD9m
Kill la Kill is one of my favorite series for a lot of reasons, but my favorite is how they had a slow-burn joke of Mako over-explaining things through the show to culminate in the most hilariously unavoidable Yes, Homo scenes in an anime
I reviewed Stupid Never Dies.
I had hoped in my early impressions that the game's ambitious gameplay ideas and structure would coalesce into something special.
They did not.

Thank you
Seen a lot of discussions lately about how journalists in games media need to shift to being independent to carry on, but the perspective often missing from that is that the ability to do that comes with immense privilege that a lot of disabled and chronically ill writers do not have.
