Young ‘uns: this stuff happened once a week during Obama’s presidency. Dijon mustard. Moving a bust of Churchill. Inviting a rapper to the White House. Putting his feet up on his desk. They’d scream and cry for days about how effete and snobby and Black he was and how misinderstood they were.

Eventually, Elrond's account of the One Ring ended, overruning the meeting time by 20mins. Despite his lengthy discourse on the subject, everyone later noted that, in the minutes, Elrond had avoided giving himself any actions related to actually dealing with the One Ring problem.

I got to release some baby lake sturgeon into the wild yesterday. Many of them will outlive me.

Herpetology is very much a white and male field because of racism. There's no getting around that. Historically and presently Black people were/are not seen as knowledge holders and contributors by the academy.

someone asked Wile E Coyote about this happening, and how it made him feel in the AMA he did, and he replied with this:

Magical creature, a cuckoo wasp (Chrysis conica) 💙💚🖤 Found this one trapped in a window frame, tuckered out just enough to not immediately fly away after I freed it. #bugsky

Around me in Central Ohio, we've been told that large corporate data centers are built on "low quality" land but around here, that "low quality" land is habitat for my beloved Grasshopper Sparrows, a species that has already declined 90%+ in the state making some stickers about that

14 hours later and my mentions are still full of angry treatises about badly behaved cyclists. Bike lanes are not a reward for good cyclist behavior! They are infrastructure proven to make cities safer for ALL ROAD USERS. Whatever way cyclists have wronged you is irrelevant to the discussion!

Katie Mack@astrokatie.com

Every conversation about bike lanes is like: "Car crashes kill a huge number of people every day, including pedestrians, cyclists, & car occupants. Good bike infrastructure has been shown to make everyone safer (& doesn't increase congestion)." "But sometimes cyclists break rules & hit people!"

"I was driving and a cyclist slowed me down because they were on the road." Sounds like you'd be happier if there was a bike lane preventing that. "I was walking and a cyclist hit someone because they were on the sidewalk." Sounds like you'd be happier if there was a bike lane preventing that.

The Appalachians are a billion years, two supercontinents, and 4 orogenic periods old. They’ve been eroding since 200 million years before the Rockies formed. They are the same range as the Scottish highlands, Scandinavian Mountains, and Atlas Mountains. The caves predate bones.

@swordsjew.bsky.social Wild Faith: Simply terrifying book. Explains so much: workers' rights, climate change, foreign interventions, Palestine etc., all make much more horrible sense. Your descriptions & explanations are beautifully crafted. Thanks for making me engaged, terrified & depressed.
