This ad dominates the cultural conversation for three days and sparks a serious discussion about statute of limitations on making jokes about serious subjects, up until Trump announces he’s turning the Capitol Dome upside down and filling it with chili and then he’s going to swim in the chili

The orientation I want congress to have: productive conflict is GOOD. Dems have a real credibility gap. They need to communicate clearly to the public what they are for. Hold the regime accountable and force Trumpists to oppose popular stuff. Don't muddy the message with watered down bipartisan BS.

Leaders of the No Kings movement are already gearing up for the next major grassroots campaign: Making sure congressional Democrats don’t wimp out. My first piece at @newrepublic.com! (Reposted to update link card) newrepublic.com/article/2168...

I would feel bad for the DOJ lawyer getting creamed by this panel but he is taking an evil position and trying to subvert free and fair elections.

The toxicity that @ericlipton.nytimes.com and his colleagues have uncovered is everywhere but if you live in Texas, Louisiana, or Alabama pay special attention

JUST POSTED: Today at The NYT we are publishing a major investigation into how President Trump used his executive powers to expose millions of Americans to greater cancer risks. A six month-long investigation built on more than 10,000 pages of FOIA records. Read it www.nytimes.com/2026/10/24/c...

One of our ballot questions in MA authorizes same-day voter registration. When I was a poll worker, I HATED telling someone they couldn't vote. Often people forget, or think they registered but missed a step. In this day and age, there is no reason for a 10-day wait, so I voted YES on Question 4.

This is literally the end of the rule of law. If a President can pardon people committing crimes on his behalf - and the Supreme Court says he himself can't be prosecuted for crimes committed as part of his job - then the government becomes a lawless entity able to violate our rights without limit.

We actually just don’t have a rule of law at the federal level if he does this. And I don’t think any sane reading of the Founding Fathers would indicate they expected the pardon power to be this sweeping.

The Disqualification Clause can play a remedial, protective role for the rule of law in the wake of a mass pardon. Immunity from prosecution — if it comes at the cost of the political and gov’t careers young Trumpers expected to have — may not stack up as worth it.

Right. Know what else the pardon power doesn’t extend to? Permanent disqualification by Congress from elected and appointive office under 14A, §3.

Keep repeating ▶️ it’s the accountability stupid. Btw the pardon power does not extend to state or local crimes.

the reason you issue preemptive mass pardons is to reassure junior staff who are shitting themselves that they’re safe and they don’t have to flip on you. going to be very important to push back on their validity, which is nil, preemptively also

if they attempt to do this and we let it stand, the country is basically over. cooked.
