Your all-too-regular reminder that Republicans in Congress think this is just fine.

Read this paragraph. It is corruption on an unprecedented scale. A whole industry of selling presidential power. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/20/u...

I was deputy M.E. at the WSJ when Murdoch took over, with a similar “editorial independence board.” Within 4 months, our top editor was gone, replaced by a loyal Murdoch deputy. That board raised a quivering objection, but the deed was done. If the Ellisons own CNN, they’ll do whatever they want.

RFK JR: One time, Trump grabbed a placemat, turned it over, took a Sharpie, and drew a perfect map of the Middle East. Then he marked the troop strength of every country along each border on that map. It challenged a lot of the assumptions I had been told about him.

The Declaration of Independence specifies 27 grievances with King George III and Britain. Donald Trump and his regime have committed at least 20 of those same offenses highlighted in yellow. #NoKings

trump is calling for banning congressional stock trading, but he leaves out the key detail: the reason there's a standstill right now is democrats want it to apply to trump and the white house, but trump issued a veto threat over that.

WaPo editorial board when TX imposes a legislative gerrymander: don't freak out guys! Not a threat to democracy! When VA responds to TX with *referendum* on their own gerrymander: brass-knuckled hypocrisy, anti-democratic gamesmanship. There is hypocrisy here, all right, but not from VA.

Don Moynihan@donmoyn.bsky.social

This is where editorial writers can add context, but which the Post chose not to, like: *A majority GOP SCOTUS decided they could not block gerrymandering *Dems push anti-gerrymandering bills in Congress but can't get pass b/c GOP think they can benefit. Change the calculus, maybe they change.

What if Big Beer neither totally tanked craft beer like true believers feared, nor built it up like they promised? At @vinepair.com I wrote about how the country's biggest brewer is scooping money off the floor even as its lip-service about raising the segment's ceiling never really materialized.

Bobby Kogan@bbkogan.bsky.social

Two senior Republican appropriators agree it doesn't make any sense for Democrats to agree to a government funding deal unless Trump actually adheres to the deal. The Democratic alternative CR had language that would address this, but the White House came out strongly against.
