"But the preferred option comes with a price tag of more than half a billion." Oh no! We couldn't possibly run hourly trains between two of the North Island's three biggest cities for a price tag as steep as *checks notes* 1/7th the cost of a motorway to save a few minutes on the drive to Northland

I expect the absolute bollocks from all these dicks but I resent the faux outrage. You want to be taken seriously? Don’t trundle out phrases like ‘woke bullshit’ you munter.

I have long suspected black backed gulls nested on the roof of the disused Warehouse down the road and the fact that a pair of them were just loudly shagging on the edge of the roof seems to confirm this.

Ferphuxache… Debt has a reason. I could be debt-free tomorrow if I sold my house. But then I’d be homeless. Debt houses me. Debt keeps the nation running. Austerity only “works” if you’re wealthy enough not to need debt. #nzpol #votenz #DontVoteForThisWeasel www.stuff.co.nz/politics/361...

How do you feel about someone setting up an automated process that hammers restaurant-reservation websites to gain an advantage in booking a table? The NY Times thinks this is not only acceptable; it's a "killer task" for AI, worth paying $100/month. www.nytimes.com/2026/10/25/t...

nytimes.comPut Your A.I. Agents to Work with These 5 Killer TasksWhen you start using Meta’s Muse and OpenAI’s dots for these tasks — like applying for jobs and booking hard-to-get restaurant tables — you may never go back.

Took half an hour to get on the motorway from home, seemingly because the lights at Greenlane were set to ‘work day’ mode thus throttling traffic to prioritise the non-existent rush hour traffic on Greenlane Rd.

The thing about ‘less govt debt’ as a rigid policy of both ACT and National is they both absolutely avoid talking about the end result. What is the benefit to me, a citizen of this country? Absolutely none. Increased private debt, reduced services, more poverty, greater social harm.

Shrink government to a size where it does very little and only the wealthy can afford to have a half decent standard of living. Understandably, neither party campaigns on the destination, only the journey.

Fuck you Apple and your update with an ‘improved’ liquid glass. The ability to actually turn it off would be an improvement. But now that you’ve fucked over all my minimalising tweaks I have to start again.

When political scientists first raised concerns about this new restriction last year we were told we were being ‘alarmist’ to suggest tilting the playing field unfairly like this by one party can undermine the legitimacy of the election out come for all Kiwis in a tight race I’m still ‘alarmed’…

307,991 eligible voters not enrolled as of Friday. Almost half (43%) are 18-24. The least enrolled age group; now even more so than 2023. This govt KNEW this would happen—and did it anyway, with no mitigation plan. Such disdain for democracy, and for young people. www.nzherald.co.nz/nz/election-...

All Hipkins should have said You’re distracting from the big issues all people in New Zealand have a story to tell and we are here to listen to all people If pushed- he replies Key & Muldoon did it That’s why he’s not a leader leaders can explain a complex issue simply and he couldn’t

A starling landed in the bottlebrush and started poking at the flowers and I thought “oh you’re in for a surprise” and 30 seconds later it was fleeing at speed as resident tūī went full Top Gun on its ass.

So it turns out the tūī owning the tree is none other than Odin the One-Eyed Tūī who has been returning to our garden for years now. Here its showing its good right eye.

There’s probably a spec script floating around Hollywood already about a global apocalypse brought about by a rogue AI agent crashing all tech everywhere because someone it them to find the best price on DRAM.

I tried photographing one of these once using the method of playing its call through my phone to lure them out of hiding. One did pop its head out, took one look at me and my camera and noped right back into cover.

There are two kinds of movie you can make from our current reality - bleak dystopian sci-fi or biting farcical satire and yes they can be the same movie.

Chris Hipkins is probably the only living person who could manage to make an entire election news cycle focus on how shit he is as a leader when the other major story is the kids hospital doing hunger games to see which kids get to survive. FHMR

Man you wouldn’t want to be the guy that loses an election, twice, to Christopher Luxon. I mean you’d think you’d try really hard not to be that guy. Like really hard.

Hmm there’s definitely a shining cuckoo calling out there, probably in the park next door. I wonder if we will have a repeat of last summer’s epic tiny riroriro attempted to feed their massive cuckoo foster child drama? flic.kr/p/2rRoz3T
