Antisemitism is structurally necessary for Musk's politics, because the right-wing populism he supports needs to frame itself as fighting for "the people" against "the elites," but as the world's wealthiest person, he needs a definition of "elite" not rooted in actual wealth or corporate ownership.

Leaked audio: Mike Rogers blocked the unredacted Epstein files to "protect" Epstein's friends "You have to protect somebody who got on an airplane and rode with him... The court of public opinion would ruin their life for no reason... You don't want to hurt that person's career or reputation"

The larger problem when it comes to people like Holmes and Trump isn't their relationship to the truth, it's their enablers.

Will Stancil@whstancil.bsky.social

It’s not silly, at all, to point out that Trump does not lie like a normal person lies. He invents his own truths as he speaks them and that has important consequences for how easily he’s able to lie and how those lies tend to evolve. This is obviously not a defense of him.

Obligatory "You Can See Everything" take: It fundamentally doesn't matter whether Holmes was intentionally lying or not. A healthy society requires safeguards to prevent people like her from accumulating too much power.

AI slop is the medium of post-truth. It’s for people who reject the value of factual reality, can’t appeal to the public based on the truth, and want everyone to live inside a lie. Unsurprisingly, Republicans are using it much more in campaigns.

After the blue wave hits, the next battle is refusing to let the new congress rubberstamp legislation written by and for the tech-oligarchy

Anthropic floats a sample bill. It would allow the gov’t to block a model that has a “foreseeable, imminent risk of more than $1 billion in damages, or of killing or seriously injuring more than 50 people” www.politico.com/news/2026/10...

If Meta suspended the account at the request of or under pressure from the admin, that would be “jawboning” — and a 1A violation. This was exactly what the MAGA states argued wrt the Hunter Biden story and COVID minsinfo. The purpose of the investigation would be to find out if that happened

Mike Masnick@masnick.com

People demanding Zuck be hauled before Congress to explain why No Kings insta was suspended... how would you feel if MAGA GOP hauled MSNow execs to explain why they covered Trump the way they do? Both are editorial choices protected by the First Amendment. If this annoys you...

Meta has suddenly suspended the No Kings Instagram account in the middle of the No Kings' national day of action. This shocking censorship comes just weeks before the midterm election.

We can’t just not open the portal to hell. We’d love to live in that world, but grow up. Someone is going to open the portal to hell. It might as well be us. Do you trust the other guys to open the portal to hell responsibly?

The correct answer is, of course, that AI can never have a soul and, therefore, it is never a sin to terminate it regardless of how conscious it may or may not be.

No matter how much you yell at me, this happened. Greenwald, Dore, Khachiyan et al. were influential on the 2010s Left and pulled many towards pro-Russia, anti-anti-Trump politics, even fascism. Pretending they were never seen as "on the Left" is memory hole shit buttondown.com/Fightback/ar...
