Brazil's advice on ignoring far-right trolls: don't even give water

Happy Asexuality Awareness week!!! I fall somewhere in the gray ace area with aego tendencies. Repost for other aces to feel seen~

🎼 Still really happy with the choir parts on the Furality Somna main theme, I should really give the choir more room to breathe in future work

Apparently the Twitter algorithm just changed where everything gets phased out of the algorithm after 48 hours. That means every artist has 2 days of their art reaching mew eyes, and then nothing, with the highest weight of whether a post gets noticed being within the first two hours

Excellent, that means everyone can leave Twitter now since your art is not going to be getting "exposure"

Brazilians recommending not to amplify right-wing talking points by dunking and quoting, as a winning strategy Next day, my tl is full of people dunking on rfk jr I literally would not have seen the bigotry if it wasn't for y'all repeating it. That's exactly what the Brazilians were on about!

There's no pretense left. J. K. Rowling made her hate for trans women clear in a slur-filled screed slurring them a dozen times and describing them as deceitful and dangerous. So writes @evanurquhart.bsky.social this morning on Assigned Media. *WARNING: Article quotes Rowling's hateful language.*

I felt I really needed to write about Rowling's essay, not because it's new, but because it's so poisonous and ugly that it felt like sanitizing her not to acknowledge it on my trans news site.

This is a very different beast from her 2020 essay, which plausibly read as reasonable concerns to the uninitiated. And one of the most interesting differences is that the 2020 essay spent a third of its wordcount on transgender men, who Rowling portrayed as girls misled into transitioning.

Six years later, that pose of concern is gone, as is any acknowledgement that slightly more than half of all trans people were assigned female at birth. Rowling today speaks only about transgender women, and only in the most odious terms imaginable.

In Rowling's telling, the movement for trans equality isn't about trans people wanting to live comfortably and authentically post-transition, whether that means using men's spaces, gender-neutral spaces, or women's spaces. Instead it's about interlopers seeking to penetrate women's spaces only.

It's important to recognize this - and I think it's important for me, as a trans man, to clearly say I recognize this: Rowling's primary motivating factor is an intense irrational hatred of trans women. There's nothing else but that in the entire 2200 word essay.

I don't know how many ways to say that trans women don't deserve this. They have done nothing except try to live and be human.

if you want to follow ANYTHING from what elected Lula here in brazil, this is the most important lesson and change of mindset that happened here just don't give them the attention they want. let them speak amongst themselves and let us win by silencing them with our voices

Our $2M investment in the Sea Cliffs Exhibit Renovation Project has gotten a pretty clear seal of approval.

When your friend transitions but they keep their name

Alternatively seeking roomspace with friends/mutuals for 2 people in main (for me and Mek). Wed-Mon or Thurs-Mon, and we'd need a bed. Non-party room, no heavy drugs please. Basically want a chill relaxed space.

Does anyone per chance have an MFF room in main (Hyatt) that they're needing to get rid of and can transfer to us? Preferably Wed-Mon or Thurs-Mon. We had roomspace with friends but something came up. ;w; #MFF #MWFF #MFF2026 #MWFF2026 #FurFest #FurFest2026

A wrong lesson to take from the Brazilian elections is that voting can defeat fascism. That's not true at all. Democracy is an incredibly frail system and the US almost took over the country through it. ORGANIZED PEOPLE DEFEATED FASCISM

Especially if you are American, voting alone won't save you. You don't have a left wing party. The Democrats are making anti trans ads. Erika Hilton, a black trans woman, is the most voted congresswoman in Brazil and this is a video of Lula kissing her on the cheek.

It's another day, so let's talk about this. First of all, Lula didn't win the election alone. He won because more than half of the country FREAKED THE FUCK OUT and built a popular movement that organized several actions both irl and online.

Got something that I’ve been cooking for a good while now 👀 You can share your guesses but I won’t reveal until it’s time 🙂 (And do pls follow my art account. I post both furry and fantasy art on there!)

🇵🇷 Been working on a special little thing! 🐾 But wait, why is it cropped so weird 🤔 Did you know I have a Telegram channel exclusively for furry art? Did ya know that I’ve been dropping exclusive hints on there? Now you know! https://t.me/zephyr_studios

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS THIS

brazil is the only country whose president gives a black and trans congresswoman a kiss on the cheek, just think about it a bit get into politics, we need everyone

A petition to 'Save Mass Effect' has crossed 200K signatures 🎮 Commander Shepard actor Mark Meer has encouraged fans to 'hold the line'

A great tactic when some transphobic shithead drops into your mentions is to simply block with zero response. No, you don't get the last word, but my god is it so much better to not only deprive bigots of oxygen but also make them even more steamed by not giving them the reaction they desire.

I want all trans people to know that Erika Hilton is a black transwoman and the most-voted congresswoman in the history of Brazil, with 1.5 millions votes. She campaigned for Lula over the last three weeks. WE TRANS PEOPLE CAN EXIST IN POLITICS. It’s not a dream. It’s already a reality in Brazil!

RIP Eric Bauza....😢You filled Mel Blanc's shoes amazingly

I really need the world to understand this: THE MOST VOTED CONGRESSPERSON PERSON IN BRAZIL IS A BLACK TRANS WOMAN. Her name is Erika Hilton. DO NOT LET ANYONE THROW TRANS AND BLACK PEOPLE UNDER THE BUS.

THAT TIME OF THE MONTH AGAIN YAPPERS AGAIN PSPSPSPSPS €20 for 1 €15/each for 3+ forms.gle/rCd1kEj2Yan6...

Lula: "We had to overcome foreign interference through digital platforms, which we will have to regulate. A crime in the digital world must be treated the same as a crime in the real world. We cannot have monstrous companies earning millions... not paying taxes... wanting to steer elections."

Just to be clear, I don't think anyone is evil for collecting money so that it can be donated enmasse. We just shouldn't pretend that sort of mechanism can't be used for nefarious social conditioning Like, helping a starving children charity is nice but we should ask why kids starve to begin with

Congrats to Lula on overcoming Mark Zuckerberg and Donald Trump to defeat Hospital Pervert Jr., even as his opposition literally blocked off roads and turned off bus service during election day. Fascists are scary but they are always, 100% of the time, ultimately gigantic fucking losers.

It's really important to pay attention to the fact that Lula beat the fascist candidate not by compromising and trying to meet fascist voters in the middle, but by sticking to his guns, promising prosecutions for election interference, and mobilising his own voters to turn out in greater numbers.

I just want to name that people overcame this. Even against a stacked deck, the good fight is worth it. Win or lose, it's worth it. And sometimes the good guys win.

FUCK FASCISM
