Never forget: Every 1/10th degree of global warming we prevent is a profound gift to our children and grandchildren in the forms of health, peace, & prosperity. Today, Iโ€™m working with colleagues from across the global to help build a path to what we are calling Zero Carbon Prosperity. More soon.

Lulaโ€™s win is the first good news for the planet in a while! I bet it shaves a tenth of a degree off how hot our earth eventually gets, which will save millions of lives Thank you Brazil!

This essay touches upon many turmoils I have been feeling lately regarding application of AI tools in the University sector. There is a sense of relief but also profound grief in seeing the sytem at this point and potentially getting a lot worse.

Justice Michael Kirby: always a hero for decency.

He renewed his long-standing call for a national Human Rights Act, saying there had been encouraging developments with Victoria, Queensland and the ACT now enacting their own โ€œIt is when the law protects the poor, the powerless, the vulnerable and the unpopular that it knows its finest hour,โ€

Knowing that most people care about the climate is important. We call it one of the โ€œsix key truthsโ€ about climate change: Itโ€™s real Itโ€™s us Experts agree Itโ€™s bad Thereโ€™s hope OTHERS CARE In fact, itโ€™s the strongest predictor of many important measures of issue engagement.

People DO care about climate change, and more as time goes on. The headlines from this recent ONS survey are striking: 60% think it's an important issue for the UK 85% know they have already been affected by it People who care are in the MAJORITY. Never forget that. www.ons.gov.uk/peoplepopula...

The 2026 UNEP Emissions Gap Report is out: The Point of Return. ๐ŸŒ๐ŸŒก๏ธ๐Ÿ”ฅ It's sobering but actionable. Decades of inadequate climate action have closed off opportunities to limit warming, but ambitious action today can still prevent much greater harm. A thread of some of the highlights ๐Ÿงต

Does anyone have any good coping strategies for the amount of anti-AI content out there that is blatantly AI generated Like what do you do, is there a dedicated pillow to scream into or something

Great news that High Court has ruled Scope 3 emissions (exported carbon pollution) must be considered in new environmental approvals for coal mines. Iโ€™ve moved two Bills in the Parliament to that effect, both times rejected by the enviro-vandals in the ALP and LNP #auspol

I decided to re-do this old calculation + LLMs test, and now it seems the big models just create a piece of code to do the calculation instead of brute-forcing it. IE: LLMs work best when they're doing at little LLM as possible, and every advancement is just less LLM and more stuff-that-works

KetAnthropic JoshAI@ketanjoshi.co

So, I put the calculation experiment from my article on this in www.linkedin.com/pulse/chatbo... Right answer! Cool! But it went from 0.2 watt hours to 6.8 watt hours. IE, it goes from 2.5 million times more energy than a calculator to ~62 million times more energy than a calculator

HUGE UPDATE: we halted Amazon's panel at Climate Week. We shut it down so hard that every guest and every speaker had to leave the premises. No one was able to return. Their whole event lasted less time than their warehouse workers' pee break.

Just read that Webb spotted brown dwarfs in IC 348 (1,000 light-years away!) that are only about two times Jupiter's mass. That's way smaller than we expected them to be. Pretty wild how much we're still learning.
