Hawks and Cavs being on a back-to-back is why they didn't do this. Still really bad.

Like all econ reporters, I've spent the past couple years trying to understand what A.I. will mean for the economy and workers. It's been hard to reach any firm conclusions, because so much is uncertain: how technology will evolve, how quickly it will be adopted, how policymakers will respond.

we're going to need a long-term plan, with broad political appeal, for ending impunity & holding the trump administration accountable for its crimes, malfeasance & cruelties. not 'tit-for-tat' but an american version of transitional justice. my take in @slate.com 👇

The Trump administration has denied Illinois’ request for disaster relief — again. The state sought FEMA’s help after days of severe weather in and around the Chicago area in August. FEMA granted Indiana’s request for help with the same storm. buff.ly/P3ElxRb

We should probably invest as country/society in more JD-PhD programs. Especially in the age of AI related litigation there’s gonna be a huge demand for a technically literate attorney population.

I don’t think everyone realizes how bad things are for US science: For the fiscal year that just ended, the Trump regime withheld $1.4 billion from the National Science Foundation’s research budget, which is about 1/5 of its primary research budget.

Sort of insane fact about how broken US urban planning is—America now spends more building *just the lights for roads and highways* than on all subways & ground mass transit combined Spending on roadway *pavement* is 18x transit spending

Hey, ProPublica reporter Jake Pearson here. I’m taking over the account to tell you about my new story. For months, I posed as a problem gambler on DraftKings to test the company's "responsible gaming" safeguards. Spoiler alert: They made me a VIP — and I lost $10K. Here's how it all went down. 🧵

This thread asks why Trump saying “I'm going to try to cheat like hell..." isn’t getting as much media attention as his obviously farcical $5,000 proposals. They ignore it when he says crazy things that are true, and take seriously the crazy things he says that are not. Sanewashing.
