In his acceptance speech, Lula says he will work to regulate digital platforms in Brazil. “Digital crimes must be dealt with like real-life crimes.” This comes after Meta directly interfered with the Brazilian elections, favouring Flávio Bolsonaro.

Mark Carney on Elon Musk crippling Ukraine’s Starlink: “I search for the right adjective to describe whoever took this decision… against a country that is literally fighting for the lives of its citizens against naked aggression."

No one elected Elon Musk to oversee foreign policy. Yet he was able to unilaterally slow down Starlink in Ukraine — because his enormous wealth gave him enormous power. Now he’s using that enormous wealth to buy another election and amass even more power. See the problem here?

Such a tragedy. We never forget.

60 years ago today 144 people died in the Welsh village of Aberfan when a colliery spoil tip collapsed onto them. 109 of those were children attending the village school. A tragedy that broke hearts, which remain broken now. The strength and courage shown by that community is an example to us all.

If this is accurate, Elon lied about not having control over Starshield, and he lied about the administration making the decision. More importantly, why is a private citizen even *able* to make decisions that could hinder US military operations?

This is an odd form of Christianity. I mean the Bible describes a great falling away from the faith in the last days. Maybe this is what is meant.

Trump promises to lead Christianity where it’s never been before — beyond Jesus: “He’s going to lead us to a period of time in Christianity that nobody else can do.”

Elon Musk sabotaged Western defensive military operations against Putin's Russia. He committed an act of outright treachery. He is a malign force working against the West, and cannot be allowed to wield such vast wealth, power and influence any longer.

NEW: In his first major public appearance since his cancer diagnosis, Pope Leo XIV said he feels “particularly close to all those who are living with illness or infirmity.” His surgeon said there were “no clinical reasons” to stop his Nov. 6–17 trip to Uruguay, Argentina, and Peru.

Does arresting the wife of an enlisted man and mother of four US citizen children, a person who’s been here since she was 6 years old, make our country great again?

NEW: ICE is trying to deport a mother of 4 while her husband is at Fort Benning in Army basic training. When she went to pick up the family's military IDs, Navy personnel turned her over to ICE. She's been in the US since age six. With @nancyayoussef.bsky.social www.theatlantic.com/politics/202...

“Let us pray for Leo, our Pope.” Those words open the Oremus pro Pontifice, a chant drawn from Psalm 41 that the Church has sung over its popes for centuries. The choir sang it in the Sistine Chapel after Leo’s first Mass. The clip is spreading after the Vatican announced Leo XIV has lung cancer.

Not often, if ever, do you see an Archbishop of the Military Services in the US meet with the Pope, then literally right after releasing a major statement obliging Catholics to not participate in a firing squad. These are the unfortunate times we find ourselves in.

Ron Filipkowski@ronfilipkowski.bsky.social

This is completely outrageous and disgusting. This must immediately be blocked by Congress and Trump should be impeached for this. The US is now funding Putin’s war machine as he murders civilians including children. We are lost as a country.

The U.S. bishops called the Trump administration’s plan to livestream an execution barbaric, and they were right. Pete Hegseth has quoted the Bible publicly more than 120 times since taking office, and not one of those quotes came from Jesus or the New Testament. Why? He doesn’t believe in it.
