I do not want it in my book On in the recipes I cook I do not want it in my art Not even just a sketch to start Not for emails day or night Nor searches that aren't even right I do not want your AI slop I need you all to fucking stop.
I do not want your AI slop I kindly wish that you would stop Pushing it in my face And in every hobby space I wish I wish For this bubble to pop I do not want your AI slop

consumer friendliness has no relation to what Valve take from indies. It would cost them nothing to lower it to 20% or even 15% like Google and Apple already do in their own stores for indies under 1mil yearly revenue. somehow evil megacorporations are indie friendlier than Steam in this regard.

in the narrative of this ad, kyle, our white plagiarist, isn't even depicted as worried about his own job performance; he steals labor because seeing someone who's not a white guy being praised "really got to him" if that doesn't sum up where we are with all of this, i don't know what does
The first genuinely honest ad for generative AI I've ever seen, from Microsoft / CoPilot A mediocre white guy sees his non-white colleague getting praised for good work, he asks AI to *literally copy it*, and then he gets all the praise instead: www.ispot.tv/ad/SoDi/micr...

with sloppy (but convincing enough) AI vibeclones on the rise, developers now face a future in which a steady stream of pre-release videos, demos, and playtests—the only reliable way to promote and build community—could be their game’s undoing
Game developers fear that thieving AI vibecoders will make free game demos a thing of the past aftermath.site/steam-next-fes...

I'll be honest, there is nothing more demoralizing to me than devs saying "I know AI is built on theft, and anti-labour, and harms the environment, but I'm going to use it anyway bc I don't believe individual choices matter". This is how a movement fails. www.molleindustria.org/blog/future-...

When filming Young Frankenstein in the 70’s, Mel Brooks tracked down the original designer for the 1931 Frankenstein (Kenneth Strickfaden) with the intention of politely asking the old man to do a quick consultation on the lab equipment to try to reasonably replicate it...

This means that the increased price of RAM and consumer electronics was a result of an artificial "supply chain crisis" created by Jensen Huang pushing NVIDIA's customers to take early delivery of GPUs. Jensen Huang is responsible for making life worse for everyone.
NVIDIA seems to be channel stuffing, forcing Amazon and other customers to take early delivery. The argument that these things are "scarce" when you don't even have anywhere to plug them into is nonsense...unless NVIDIA is saying you NEED to take them now, or else. GPUs are stacked in warehouses.

Now that Steam Next Fest has started I want to remind everybody to not give games with AI any attention, to help you with this you can download this neat extension that will make it A LOT easier to filter through the slop! github.com/seeeeew/aiwa...

If game studios are shifting to the Hollywood model, game workers are going to have to shift more quickly to the union model in order to survive.
Lower pay? Not usually. It’s just so they don’t have to fire folks once their job is done. They can just be reassigned by their actual company to a new project at another studio. It’s the Hollywood model, basically. The whole industry is semi-pivoting that way.

The full team was like 1000 people. People outside of the “core team” did some major heavy lifting. This is outsourcing. What you are doing is outsourcing and then downgrading their contributions. There is nothing innovative about this.
Star Wars: Galactic Racer was made by a core team of 75 people. "What we wanted to do was keep that core small, smaller than perhaps you might have done in the past, and scale capacity and capability with what we call distributed development." https://bit.ly/4hT02qg

Your daily reminder that paying actual artists and writers and programmers isn't just the morally correct choice, it's also often cheaper.
The developer behind Teach My Little Sister How to Drive, a driving generative AI-powered instruction sim, has been spending $1000 a day to keep the demo running, and now, they've had to take out a bank loan to keep up. https://bit.ly/4rWqe8g

The American white collar workforce started working from home three days a week for like six months a year into COVID and executives so thoroughly lost their minds over this that they installed Trump II. If anything, AI will create the 7-day workweek.
