Debut novel in submission to publishers, please god someone just buy it please. It’s fun!

So far, editors like my novel, but because I’m a nobody, they don’t think their acquisition boards will buy it. So their advice is to get published with short stories at places and then they’ll reconsider. I’m exhausted. #writesky #writing

I wish I was a fan of edging because I would very much enjoy the process of my book sitting in submission purgatory rather than feeling complete agony. #writesky

The world is an unrelenting hellscape but it’s beautiful out in Boston and it’s giving me life. Hope is the ice melting on the Charles and the Esplanade full of people running to a better day.

My novel sitting in publisher submission limbo has made me second guess my writing ability a bit. I’ve kept on with writing regardless and the feedback from peers on my new novel has stopped the anguish a bit and I’m so thankful for them. Find honest critics you trust. #writing #writesky

Have said this before in other forms, but will reiterate it here: if you're doing long-form writing of any sort, reading the words aloud into a microphone is a completely unparalleled cheat code. It's free, easy, and so effective it feels like it shouldn't be allowed. I do it in a few stages...

the first time you stand on a Boston streetcorner and notice that there are three Dunkin' Donuts within eyeshot is a transcendental experience

William Easley@williameasley.bsky.social

In my experience it only takes one trip to Boston to understand it. Dunkin’ is everywhere. It’s not something you seek out but something you stumble upon and is ever present

If you respect yourself I greatly recommend simply not watching any cable TV news for the foreseeable future. Or ever, really. You'd be better informed binging the muppet show.

"rich dipshit owner doesn't understand the industry he's bought into and clumsily destroys what made it good" feels less like a narrative unique to the washington post and more like the music that's been playing in the background of all our lives for at least 40 years

Live in reality and do your job and help your constituents or leave. Shame on you.

Yes it’s cold in Minnesota—but we embrace it. John and I were in Hastings with Mayor Fasbender for Hockey Day Minnesota to watch my alma mater, Wayzata High School, take on Rogers. Photo taken with parents right after their son scored a goal!

And we all just have to keep clocking in, keep paying the bills, keep paying our taxes, keep checking our credit scores, keep marching along funding the machinations of a fascist state just to keep the lights on 🙃

Hot take (?): if you are anti-vax and your child dies from your stupidity you should go to prison.

this is what RFK Jr wants btw. he wants dead children from preventable disease.

before you decide you don't want to vaccinate your children you should have to take a 4 hour cemetery tour with me where i point out every tiny little headstone of a child that died from a preventable disease and is buried with their parents who would have done anything to save them

it's almost as if the raw quest for engagement free of ethical guardrails and regulatory oversight at impossible scale all overseen by a sociopathic extraction class was a bad idea

So much of American history is just impulsive and extremely stupid elites, who don't believe in consequences because they have never personally experienced them, doing highly consequential stuff because they're bored or believe it might make them richer. I guess a lot of our culture, too.

In the midst of my first submission process and I have to say, the waiting game from publishers is stressing me out and it’s only been a month. I am grateful I’ve gotten this far at all, but man, this is tough. I guess if you’re into edging this would be fun? #booksky #writing #writesky

Agent let me know I received my first rejection from a major publisher. Disappointed but trying to feel proud I’ve even got this far. Still plenty more publishers with the manuscript in their hands so just continuing to wait and thinking positive. #booksky #writing

The President of the United States just called for Democratic members of Congress to be executed. "HANG THEM", he posted. If you're a person of influence in this country and you haven't picked a side, maybe now would be the time to pick a fucking side.

There is something deeply broken about an economy that creates trillionaires while people get buried under the cost of living and 42 million go hungry. The ultra-rich should realize that my Billionaires Income Tax, aimed at ensuring they pay their fair share, represents the moderate path forward.

This is simply untenable. There is no way forward with media and political classes captured by the right. Every time someone commits a crime you have to pray it's not an undesirable or it's purge time, then when it turns out to be themselves again they just shrug and wait for the next one.

i think anyone saying he practiced politics the right way or that we should continue his work should first have to read out loud his last days worth of posts to someone they love who doesnt know who he is

The precise moment when and where in recent weeks America crossed that invisible line from democracy into authoritarianism can and will be debated by future historians, but it’s clear that the line itself has been crossed. www.doomsdayscenario.co/p/america-ti...

this is the part of fascism that is just completely inescapable and it is fucking infuriating every day they go out there and they lie and they lie and they know they’re lying and we know they’re lying and that’s the whole point of the lying and I hate it and I hate them

they ask politicians like Mamdani if they are communists but they never ask anyone if they are a fascist and that's all you really need to know

This election has proven without a doubt the lengths Dem establishment will go to keep working class people and ideas out of government.

We have gone from the margin of error to the margin of effort. On the day before the election, we stand on the verge of toppling a political dynasty and winning a city we can afford. But we can only do it with you. zohranfornyc.com/gotv

This is the exact thing— these people are just going for broke and achieving personal hatred goals because yolo? They can fuck all kinds of shit up & walk away smiling because we don’t do consequences for government people here

Many in modern society still believe the insane to only live on street corners and not in the highest influences of power. People simply still refuse to accept how insane the powerful are.

union person@junlper.beer

i think it’s not talked about enough that so many christian rightwingers support israel because they want to trigger the end times rapture and they believe supporting israel will ensure this

Do you ever think, if this insanity ever ends, how we will ever interpret our history? Will it go something like “we followed agreed upon societal guidelines for the most part and then we didn’t, and it was never the same, we could never go back. Not really.”
