Been waiting for something like this. It’s essential that such investigations are done, and a nongovernmental agency may well be a better option than waiting for a reformed DOJ to do it.

My heart is heavy. Walter Koenig, our Ensign Pavel Chekov, passed away early today. Walter and I met on the bridge of the Enterprise in the 1960s, and we stayed friends for nearly six decades. When Brad and I married in 2008, Walter stood beside us as our best man.

“Several conservative organizations …— including the Heritage Foundation and American Moment — have pressed White House counsel to either prepare pardons or put in place funding for the legal fees necessary to defend junior staffers from criminal and congressional probes or potential lawsuits.”

As someone who used to *write* NYT headlines, I’d call this a very fair question.

Mark Jacob@markjacob.bsky.social

First off, thanks to the NY Times for writing a story about Trump weaponizing the Justice Department to assault our election system. Secondly, why can’t NYT say things more directly? Do normal people know what “unmediated executive power” means? Please stop writing in code.

Total respect for NBC's Monica Alba, who asked Trump exactly the question he needs to answer. By refusing to answer, and attacking her, he has effectively told the world that no, sexual abuse allegations do no mean a thing to him. Imagine if she wasn't there. We'd be the poorer for it.

When a worker wears an Amazon vest, drives an Amazon van and delivers on an Amazon-controlled route, but Amazon denies they work for the company — that's exploitation.

If it looks like an Amazon delivery and drives like an Amazon delivery, then it's an Amazon delivery, right? Not according to Amazon. Big companies like Amazon have built a vast network of subcontractors who deliver their packages while shielding them from accountability.

It’s all a question of prioritizing. 25 years means Bloomberg, Di Blasio and Adam’s just didn’t care enough to get it done. Bravo, Mayor Mamdani.
