BC residents should learn that their likely incoming premier Aaron Gunn drove much of the violent anti-homeless, anti-drug user rhetoric whipped up in the last few years in BC and nationally, which came immediately after Gunn made Vancouver is Dying with the help of the Alberta government.

A pirate comes into a doctor’s office. Somehow, he has a wooden steering wheel bolted to his pelvis. Doctor says: “Why do you have that?” Pirate: “I don’t know, but it’s driving me nuts.” #dadjoke

Poorly sourced @theglobeandmail.com Opinion article against #SafeSupply ? Is it an election year? Featuring a remarkable lack of statistics...but fearmongering galore. Let's start with this: "it’s now clear that this supposed solution carries big costs." OK, let's hear about those...

The @theglobeandmail.com board also advocates that only addiction physicians should be the only ones to prescribe prescription opiates. When this was the case in BC, there was considerable profiteering and lack of access. Why would anyone choose to go backwards, given stigma and lack of access?

The last paragraph is the most disheartening. It lays the current overdose crisis blame entirely on opiates, neglecting the role that lower employment, poor health care access and lack of social supports have on generating dependence. How much does rehab cost?

"All too often, the hydromorphone ends up in the hands of young people seeking a cheap high" It appears the evidence to support this is a quote from an addicitions physician - there are no statistics supplied.

"Some hydromorphone users, chasing a stronger high, move on to fentanyl." This could be a big cost, if we knew how often this happens. If this was rare compared to the number of people helped by safe supply then the costs would not be BIG. Again, the lack of facts hampers any conclusion

I will never stop pointing out the BC medical college's total failure to keep the public safe from Hoffe's prolific anti-vax propaganda. Every time he shows up on a big stage to promote COVID denialism, I will be the small voice reminding everyone that the CPSBC shirked their responsibility.

My big thoughts on this is that the RCMP shouldn't be forcing us to spend money on this project until we get a stronger say on how policing in the community is done and that there is no reason this facility needs to be downtown and that we should consider places like Mission Flats.

NEW: Cancer Pseudoscience and the Cultural Moment I wrote about how cancer quackery often capitalizes on its era of origin's social tensions. In our current moment, a Canadian former doctor and prolific COVID disinfo promotor is the reason ivermectin has become an ever-expanding online scam.

Adam Zivo once responded to a joke I made on Twitter about the National Post by mocking me for being a restaurant server and saying I clearly wasted my university degree. He's an absolute piece of shit. It was a good joke, too! Save your insults for my just-okay jokes, Adam! They're out there!

Received this bizarre email out of the blue yesterday from National Post columnist Adam Zivo gloating over my former colleague's layoff notice I'd like to thank Postmedia for looking into it and issuing this statement clarifying Zivo is expected to uphold professional standards for employee conduct

2. Global TV states the ads "continue to meet all required Canadian broadcast clearance standards" and are actively reviewing and monitoring the situation. So aware of deception, but not doing anything. Even though broadcast standards are met, the CBC has pulled the ad. www.cbc.ca/news/canada/...

3. The charity "Kars 4 Kids" has no staff in Canada and won't say if any of their money goes to Canadian children. Why is #GlobalTV supporting a deceptive organization that collects Canadian dollars to help Jewish and Israeli groups? Is Global less concerned about deceiving viewers than the CBC?

If Popehat is permanently banned because of this post, I’m genuinely concerned about the viability of this platform. Hopefully, someone like @masnick.com knows more about what’s happening and whether this is just a temporary suspension

Charles Johnson@charles.littlegreenfootballs.com

Banning Popehat was a profoundly stupid move by Bluesky. Moderation is a very difficult job at this kind of scale, and I tend to grant lots of leeway for that reason. But this move was simply indefensible.
