It’s not that the president has some mysterious ability to “do whatever he wants”
It’s that Senators are choosing not to stop him, even though they could
The GOP is doing that thing again where they pretend the JCPOA (Obama nuclear deal) wasn’t working, despite our intelligence community, the IAEA, and our allies all confirming that it was.
And the fact that all Iran’s significant enrichment happened after Trump pulled out. 🤷♂️
Based on this Virginia ruling, the Tennessee and Florida maps should both also be shot down.
If not, Virginia should just pull a Tennessee and change the rules to ram it though the legislature. 🤷♂️
Most serious people already acknowledged that Iran could withstand a blockade for longer than we would be willing to maintain one.
Anyone who thought this blockade was a good idea should be fired immediately due to lack of basic analytical ability.
Sen. Mark Kelly: "If you say something that the president or this administration does not like, they're going to come after you. The president is trying to silence us, and I can't think of anything that's more un-American."
horrible. this country’s turn away from science based medicine in the name of “wellness” is killing children and will kill a lot more. www.propublica.org/article/more...
Way to go, Memphis! Hundreds of protesters descended on the Tennessee State Capitol in Nashville yesterday to push back against Republican efforts to gerrymander Memphis out of its own congressional district.
I'm not big on nostalgia but I do miss how music was allowed to be more weird in the 90s. Like yes capitalists commoditified alt culture, but there is something good about the general public being exposed to Bjork and Aphex Twin and NIN as well as regular pop. Everything's such a monoculture now.
5 out of the 6 Supreme Court Justices who gutted the Voting Rights Act were nominated by a president who came into office having lost the popular vote.
70% of Americans support the John Lewis VRA.
The Supreme Court is historically unpopular.
It is not a democratically legitimate institution.
This will sound very nerdy, but when I was a kid, I revered the Supreme Court. If they could rule unanimously against segregation in 1954—when the two other branches of government would *never* have been brave enough—I thought they're the lone voice of good. That is all trashed now. They're garbage.
RYAN: Before the war starter, there was clear intelligence that the base was high on Iran's target list and internal analysis that said the site is indefensible. Yet you sent our soldiers there anyway. True or false?
HEGSETH: Are you just gonna play gotcha?
RYAN: Six of our soldiers are dead
I know it’s almost a meme that Americans don’t understand subtleties, but listening to the British king roasting the US Congress and them just clapping… 😬
Why is it that a man who tells jokes is held to a higher standard than a man who lies, cheats, steals, extorts, kills, rapes, abuses children, and causes a violent insurrection?
If Trump's approval rating keeps dropping at this rate, he'll be in the 20s in two weeks, and Nixon resignation level in five weeks. www.reuters.com/world/us/tru...
“If you don’t think $400M of TAXPAYER money is a good investment to create a secure facility at the White House…”
-Lindsey Graham
We warned you that the taxpayers were going to pay for his ballroom.
Notice how a book can make you gay, a vaccine can make you autistic, a mask can make you sicker, and a poster of the Ten Commandments can make you moral, but guns don’t kill people.
ESPN unironically teases a segment on the 22 year old Texas Tech QB who is headed to rehab for his gambling addiction and then tosses it to 5 minutes of NHL prop bets for tonight.
I don’t what to say other than sports betting is a scourge and an epidemic among young men and needs to go.
Mark Carney: "Many of our former strengths, built on our close ties to the US, have become weaknesses. The US has changed. That's their right. And we're responding ... we're deepening our partnerships with our closest allies, including the EU, the Nordic countries, and Australia."
German Chancellor Friedrich Merz said today the United States is being “humiliated by the Iranian leadership.”
He also questioned the endgame, warning that entering a conflict without an exit plan risks repeating failures seen in Afghanistan and Iraq.
