Many museums are currently under threat of being closed. The Academy of Natural Sciences, the oldest natural history museum in the US, is no exception. Please take the time to read our statement on this matter.

This isn’t just another scientific conference. What makes #Dros27 unique is the community. Researchers return each year to share their science and connect. Presenting is a great way to introduce yourself to an incredibly welcoming community. Submit today: buff.ly/xfLnDBU

My ELL support teacher has told me like 10,000 times thay this one kid has very low vocabulary in English. I feel like she's trying to tell me to do something, but I already have him creating his own dictionary with words from independent reading, and I teach vocab every day to the whole class

And while your at it go send some funds to @sarahmackattack.bsky.social who they used in this demo!

Three years ago, my dad said that all fish are the same shape. Out of spite, I decided to draw all 478 families of bony fish listed in Nelson 2016. There's still some stuff I need to edit and some fish I want to redraw but, after 985 days, I finished my big dumb fish project last night.

my father has odious politics but I will say that from the time my sister and I were little we were told over and over that nobody gets to tell you how to vote, even your husband, and if you see someone doing it snitch to a poll worker without delay.

In a timeline of very bad news this is the best news that I have read today. The controversial Hepatitis B study planned by Danish researchers in Guinea Bissau has now been halted. It was unethical when it was proposed and is still unethical today. www.theguardian.com/world/2026/o...

It’s been long enough that I can talk about this vaguely. A family friend refused cancer treatment. He didn’t want medical costs to drain his retirement. He was obsessed with taking care of his wife and two kids. He died less than 6 months after telling us that. Few things radicalized me more.

SCOOP: 'Tommy' from the now-viral exchange with Abdul El-Sayed is Thomas Teepell, a former staffer for Republican Senator Josh Hawley with close ties to Christian Nationalist Sean Feucht. He's the son of a former Bobby Jindal staffer whose consultant work was instrumental in getting Hawley elected.

dear lord just saw a headline where a man called his parental leave a "sabbatical" which means his spouse was probably off too in order to take care of the kid. Yeah, I know that is not a very charitable reading of the headline but still.

Indeed they did. This is an important change that will make biomedical science like cancer and dementia research worse, by allowing newly political roles (program officials now under Schedule F/P/C and IC directors chosen by politicals) free rein to choose projects to fund.
