Ranvir Singh this morning: "9 million people in the UK, I find it obscene, in 2026 are on the verge of or already using foodbanks" Meanwhile the richest 50 families have more wealth than half the population. The levels of inequality in this country are staggering.

Among Keir Starmer's worst deeds were his legislative and rhetorical attacks on nature protection. In those two wasted years, we spiralled backwards, even from the Tory legacy. I think the calculation is that the ratchet only turns right and it’s held there by the nominally left party, it doesn’t turn left. We might get concessions to liberalism and egalitarianism but these don’t cost money, don’t concede significant power and as we’ve seen, can be revoked in short order.

Winston Marshall also proposed building a mined ‘ floating wall” to stop small boat crossings on the Channel Mined with explosives so you can kill actual people . For the BBC this qualifies him as a voice worth listening to & not a complete psychopath.

I’ve seen this pattern many times. You write a nuanced thread about a complex issue. The first responses are thoughtful and interesting. Then someone on another forum extracts a sentence and deliberately misinterprets it. Then your timeline is flooded by trolls all saying exactly the same thing.

Adam Boulton: "she, in common with a lot of people in Ireland is taking a very strong pro Palestine & I have to say anti Israel & anti Jewish stance" Adam, can you provide evidence that Sally Rooney is taking an anti Jewish stance? Or are you, in fact, lying to smear critics of Israel?

Disgraceful easy ride just given to Badenoch this morning on BBC Radio 4, the presenter allowing her to frame the Conservatives as the party of high behavioural standards then segue into a hagiography of Jeffery Archer without challenge about his record. How I feel right now about the British/ 🇬🇧English( whatever) political landscape is that some one wrapped in a Union Jack could whack me over the head with a flag pole & the BBC would shove a microphone in my face asking why I provoked the attacker & the Home Sec would invite the attacker for tea .
