Liberating this meditation on “poasting”from the replies 🤣 . I am much much less of one than I was in my late 20s. 2010-2016, my dark glory days

Emma@emmalabizarre.bsky.social

I also think of it as separating posting on social media as an action, and posting as a vocation (poasting). Love of the game and all that. Posting through all emotions or situations

BREAKING: Game 6 of the WNBA Finals will be held Thursday at 12:30pm ET at Atlanta’s State Farm Arena, sources told ESPN’s Ramona Shelburne. It will be a double-header with the Atlanta Hawks’ game, which will be moved to 8pm.

He was so talented, to have the sweetie Pavel Chekov and the devil Alfred Bester in the same career. Second star to the right and straight on until morning. 💔

My pal Danielle Koenig shared that her father Walter Koenig passed away last night at age 90. A performer whose kindness and warmth shone through the screen. He will be well remembered.

As I've said before, it's only once I became a professor that I realized the entmoot, a meeting that goes on for three days and three nights, was a professor's joke about faculty meetings.

Kieran Healy@kjhealy.co

The Lord of the Rings is essentially a series of faculty meetings broken up by several long walks in the countryside.

One! I could use Bill Clinton whom I met briefly once, but I would much rather use Rush Holt, my long time NJ congressman whose campaign I interned for twice as a teenager. Rush is a much better guy. My favorite memory is updating his computer while he did phone interviews.

found out that my mother in law decided she was aggressively pro trans rights literally by going, I don't know anything about this but everyone who is against trans rights is also against free school lunch, the issue I know and care a lot about, so this must be the correct way to feel about this

A billionaire wanted a Trump pardon. His family gave Trump’s former lawyer a $50 million job while she still worked at DOJ. Weeks later, he got his pardon. Wait. Is that legal? My write-up in the link in the comments.

I read a great in depth piece from NJ dot com about Porta Potty companies, and I agree with the comment of one of them that it would make a great show. I would watch the hell out of that.

There are so many heroes we know next to nothing about. There are so many people fighting and pushing and making things better. I want to spend more time with them in my head instead of being told to giggle at some fucking criminal because cRiNgE Hum0r or something.

No, Freedom Summer volunteers didn't take selfies or post tweets -- because that technology hadn't been invented yet. But when they were getting trained in Ohio before going down, they were *all over* the media of their day. Here's a paragraph on it (since cut from my book for space constraints)

Joel S.@joelhs.bsky.social

"The Jews who went to Mississippi didn't take selfies and post tweets." Okay, but honestly, if tweets had been a thing in 1961, many of them probably would have done.

many people somehow do not realize that cattle can and will fuck you up (whether you are a bear or a human), especially if they think you’re trying to mess with their calves.

Ausarchosaur@ausarchosaur.bsky.social

This reminds me of that scene in Spirit: Stallion of the Cimarron with the puma attack. Except this was a whole herd of cattle bullying one bear when it tried to go after a calf. (Photos by Wayne Ray)

I really love how much body diversity there is among Bajorans When it comes to a lot of the prominent Star Trek species (like Vulcans or Orions or Romulans) they're all very...same-y in stature and build. You don't see many fat Vulcans. But Bajorans? All shapes and sizes.

Richard Todd is the only cast member of "The Longest Day" listed as both a character and an actor. He was a paratrooper in WW2 and the second man onto Pegasus bridge. He plays Major Howard, the man he followed onto it. Major Howard himself was the film's technical advisor. The two had fun on set

Amy "Thunderjam" Chase@amythunderjam.bsky.social

We all know the "Viggo broke his toe" story but what's another movie fact you're personally compelled to bring up every time without prompting? For me, it's the fact that Robin Tunney is wearing a wig in The Craft because of having just shaved her head to save her job filming Empire Records.
