β€œIt’s time for us to take our state back β€” now you might say: β€˜haven’t y’all been in power for like the last 30 years?’ And to that i say… SHUT UP.” πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚ Nails it 🎯

My current pet peeve: not being able to adjust the volume of something without it playing noise. You have to unmute to lower the volume but when the volume is way too loud you don't want to unmute. Bring back physical buttons and knobs.

This hit home. I worked for local gov. for 32 years and this is exactly how it works. "You're not an approved vendor, denied". "You want to be an approved vendor, here's an application that will take a long time to complete and *maybe* you will get a tiny contract". Total lock-in for the known.

The procurement officer who picks IBM and gets a mediocre outcome keeps their job. The one who picks the startup and gets a better outcome looks like a fool if it fails. It’s a pseudo-market. And once you see it, you’ll see it everywhere. www.selfonomics.com/p/on-pseudo...

When I was in school overpopulation was a "real" problem that needed to be addressed. We will run out of food and housing!!! Now it's the reverse. Empty apartments and no one to sell stuff to.

What the fuck are these weirdos even talking about? If "underpopulation" is something about which you are genuinely concerned (suspect it's a fig leaf for Great Replacement Theory 99% of the time) you truly need to touch grass.

"the crew is in excellent shape" in fact, one of them is... STRONGER than EVER. and another... seems to be INCREDIBLY FLEXIBLE... and another...

I love the concept, I hate that Bezos is behind it. It's a cheap truck meant to be customized with the stereo of your choice, paint (or wrap) of your choice, all features are modular and upgradable with 3rd party parts. Want power windows, add them, don't care then don't add them. Great idea.

In its attempt to build an electric truck that most people could afford, Slate left a lot on the cutting room floor. A two-seater electric pickup with no paint, no radio, no power windows, not even a dang cell connection β€” who is this for? Read more from @andyjayhawk.bsky.social:

The thing I hated about the new Tacoma truck I bought in 2003 was the option packages. I wanted a tachometer (it was a stick). To get that I had to upgrade to the SR5 package which was a $5,000 upgrade. The upgrade steps were STEEP and included a lot of stuff I didn't care about. I bought the base.

My wife is making dinner starting with raw chicken. Dinner is in the crock pot now and I'm moving in for hazmat detail.

The world could be such a nice place if we allowed it. It's all so goddamn unnecessary. There's no need for any of it. It's so beautiful here. It should be so cool to be alive

I was in college in '92 and a class was asked to present on "the meaning of hegemony." Everyone, including me, missed the point. We looked up the word in the encyclopedia and reported our "research" without considering the real question. I think about that to this day.
