Doesn’t seem to be a good idea to sell to a shrinking market that will be spending more money on gasoline and thus have less to spend on ugly t-shirts, but at least she says she didn’t open the store for the money.

Yes, we are the baddies, despite our “quite nice” imagery of eagles, stars, and stripes. We are a rogue state. We are the pirates of the Caribbean. And I, for one, am ashamed of it.

Stickers are experiencing a new wave of popularity after they were popular 30-odd years ago, but I can assure you, I was into stickers during the Showa dynasty (pre-Heisei, as mentioned in the article). IYKYK.

Stickers are arguably the hottest commodity in Japan right now. And they’re not just for children — adults are splurging in bulk.

People are rightly disgusted by this speech, but it’s a measure of fascism’s normalization that many see this as more of the awful same rather than what I think most of us who’ve been reporting this beat hear it as: a significant calculated escalation. Full alert stuff.

JD Vance gets the biggest applause of his speech so far when he says "by the grace of God we always will be a Christian nation"

Anyway, now we know what the FCC thinks is in the public interest: Fox host advocating for executing homeless people? Yes ABC comic suggesting Trumpers are using a death cynically? No

Let’s talk about Healthy Resistance. I spend a good amount of my time talking people down. So here’s my recommendation for staying sane. (1/5) You’re familiar with macronutrients? Great. Use this as a rough model:

Alligator Auschwitz explains more clearly what it is. Because Alcatraz was for actual criminals. This new Auschwitz is for people who are nurses and teachers and construction workers and other people who have paid over $90B a year into Soc. Security, which will now flounder.

the single best thing democrats could do to win back trust with voters — and a good number of those voters who have a low opinion of the democratic party are democrats themselves! — is adopt an aggressively partisan orientation toward republicans and loudly perform their opposition

Both Rubio's tweet, and the response, are remarkable artifacts. You have a Secretary of State tweeting right wing talking points to defend Neo Nazis, and the country where Nazis originated telling him to sod off.

Crucial thing you must do right now is strengthen and expand your community. Serve together. Try a new activity. See each other in person. Over on the other site I am continually struck by how the rabid intensity does not actually reflect community or connection. Only way we get through this.

Surprise, surprise.

Musk's teams scours government team for questionable grants and contracts, and he determines his own conflicts of interest. Guess which contracts will be ignored. There isn't even a pretense that this sort of corruption won't occur. Any Inspector General who flags this would be fired.

This is to say that I have some degree of faith that the slowness of individual learning curves, inept management, fiefdoms within the DoD, and protracted contract transition periods will go a long ways towards thwarting any abrupt changes there before the 2026 midterm elections happen.

I support the US DoD as a contractor. If it’s consolation to anyone, I want to let you know that I recently had to wait almost four months before I received any guidance from my government stakeholder as to what they would like me to deliver next. And the next step is a small ask.

You are up to date.
