CVE-2026-111497 unauthenticated RCE in Node.js (brotli decoder flaw). PATCHES ARE AVAILABLE; PATCH ASAP! apps that do not decode brotli payloads are not affected, but Express's stock config does, which is enough to trigger the bug. www.imperva.com/blog/node2sh...

shitposts aside, this one is serious, my loves: if you’re just waking up and you have any service online running PHP 5.4 to latest, you need to take it down RIGHT NOW and don’t put it back online until after it’s patched absolutely catastrophic vulnerability dropped in the middle of the night

Its pretty traditional for larger fest larp type deals to have group concepts where you come in as a unit. We've actually had one of those in APA: they're the MurderGang, and they are led by Death, a woman from planet Clown. Its. Its honestly remarkable to watch. Big up @junefromjune.bsky.social

Precision in the rules doc is super important to me for the game to feel eminently fair, I don't ever want myself or another player to be surprised that an action was *possible*, only that it was taken, and that means having a ruleset that is as easy to read and interpret as possible.

I think about how many things that are talked about like they are cool teen trends (tiktok, scrolling, etc) are not invented by teens at all but are technology forced on them

sometimes the thing someone wants is flat-out the wrong thing and you need someone else's input ! sometimes you're almost there but it's someone else who shows you how to do it in the most ergonomic way . sometimes you don't want to do it yourself and you want to just trust someone else's idea

spicy take: i think this applies to software too! the refrain of "coding is free now so you can just make everything you need exactly how you want it" has never really landed for me. i think there's value in eg. UX innovations and new workflows that i wouldn't be able to come up with myself

i want a tool with friction that makes me think "wait, why is this designed like that", and then "...oh that's way better than what i was doing" obviously this doesn't apply to everything and never did, but odds are in something long established, things are the way they are for a reason

there are so many times i want to solve a problem, have an idea of how i would solve it myself, and then i look into how others approach it and realize i had entirely the wrong conception of how to do it ! and it would've taken waywaywaywayy longer by myself to learn a better way !

i want things i interact with to be designed with intent and a coherent vision, because i often don't know what i want, or at least recognize that my needs often aren't unique, that design is a hard problem to solve, and that others are often better at it than me and their expertise can be leaned on

been doing things with web frontend stuff where coarse grained reactivity really seems to be what i want and all the newfangled frameworks make that very annoying (eg. svelte making you sprinkle $derived everywhere to make the magic work)

it's sort of almost the point where i should be doing templated server rendering but there's just enough interactivity and dynamic stuff in all the leaves that that would be similarly annoying in different directions

i posted an epiphany i had about why i hate AI so much on fedi and i wanna post it here but it won't fit and i don't wanna cut it down to size so fuckit i'm just posting a screenshot

the “C” in “CPU” stands for the C Programming Language. CPUs are called that because they are a hardware implementation of the C Abstract Machine as specified by ISO/IEC JTC 1/SC 22/WG 14.

conventional wisdom for the entire time i've been programming has always been "less code is better". the idea that we must write more code faster is ridiculous. the problem has never been rate of output

as part of ecsc prep i'm going through everything i might possibly interact with and forcibly disabling all the "ai" features it could have, since they'll be hypervigilant against any sort of llm-based cheating this year i'm so sick of this shit. another thing ruined by the slop tsunami

every day i wake up hoping the day has finally come where the bubble pops and the technofascist oligarcy finally learns that "no" isn't the same thing as "ask again later"

alright that’s enough talking to slightly abnormal authors. for the REAL sickos: the iosevka font family is monospaced first but has proportional sans (Aile) and serif (Etoile) variants. typeof dot net slash iosevka. check it out

do i know anyone who's recently made the switch from android to ios for their primary phone? would be curious to hear thoughts and reasons and how it's worked out
