Good framing!

I say it plainly: I do not celebrate Castro. I call Cuba what it is, an authoritarian regime, and I will fight for the Cuban families who fled it. Meanwhile, Ashley Moody backs deporting Cuban families back to the regime they escaped. #AngieforFlorida

In Michigan, Musk paid for calls targeting Muslims that painted Democrats as pro-Israel, and also paid for calls targeting Jews that painted Democrats as pro-Hamas.

@brihreed.bsky.social I think it would be really illuminating if you did a follow-up on Isaac Saul and Tangle. The premise of the original piece was that he was earning credibility with "both sides" through covering politics and Trump with a meticulously neutral lens and bringing in heterodox media.

As the second Trump administration has gotten more and more insane his tone (on Twitter and in the newsletter) has gotten more and more stridently outraged. I would wonder how he feels about the apparent mission he was on, whether he still believes in it in the same way, and whether he perceives

that he's brought the Trumpy part of his audience along with him to a measurable extent. Did he achieve anything, or was it Sisyphean? Was his neutrality genuine and well advised or was it naively misguided? Is he in the same ideological frame that has been overtaken, or does he feel radicalized?

They're holding up a major escalation in Iran and a crackdown on abortion until after the midterms to limit political damage. To the extent that the last two years have been a right-wing smash-and-grab operation, the next two will be worse.

SCOOP: White House officials, led by Susie Wiles, have told DOJ to delay any abortion-related action until after the midterms Wiles suggested to Todd Blanche that an aggressive approach on abortion would be negative for the GOP in November @washingtonsun.com www.washingtonsun.com/campaigns/ab...

I know there's a long list of things he should go to prison for, but this one is on the list

So is he just going to keep running ads until election day and then courts rule they are illegal sometime in December?

Tough competition of course, but the Trump admin deciding that white South Africans are the only group of people on earth currently worthy of refugee status has to be the most overtly racist thing any administration has done in decades

Joe Flynn@chinajoeflynn.bsky.social

Hi folks. If you saw this, you know the administration plans to only accept white South Africans next year. Tomorrow is Congress's formal say before the determination is signed. Please check this brief thread on why I'd like you to speak out for the Afghan people still in limbo...

Replying to @danryckert.com

Thanks to Matt who emailed the Bombcast back in February to suggest I try to make it onto the show! I applied that day and auditioned that weekend.

The federal law that makes this illegal basically says “it’s illegal” and nothing else. Congress should amend it to say that any U.S. currency featuring living people isn’t legal tender.

I like that this design appears to show the birth date of liberty as 1776, and its death as 2026

This is downstream of America's oligarchy problem. The GOP is the party of the top 1% of the wealth distribution, but also the ~25th-80th percentile. Meanwhile, media is the provenance of the 90th-99th%ile where you'll encounter dumb campus leftism, but not Nazism or Christian nationalism.

Radley Balko@radleybalko.bsky.social

It’s mind-blowing that we have literal white nationalists in the White House carrying out unfathomably cruel, abusive, white nationalist policies, and the punditariat has spent the last two weeks debating if some people were too intemperate after a Black man was murdered by cops six years ago.

it only takes a little exposure to realize that being an expert witness is an incredible grift, and as a result it attracts some of the laziest, most financially-motivated cynics imaginable

Trump is destroying the beautiful, untouched land of the Big Bend region in Texas to build a completely unnecessary border wall. One of the contractors, who has received $2B in federal contracts for the project, just so happens to be a major Trump donor. There’s always a grift.

Trump just dismantled this so his blatant corruption and his cronies overseas can operate without consequences or detection. Organized crime is now legal and the US is open for exploitation by foreign and domestic criminals. Don’t expect Rubio to say a word.

This paper shows that immigration enforcement can _increase_ crime. Undocumented immigrants already have the lowest crime rate, but tough-on-immigration policy makes immigrants less likely to report crime. So immigration enforcement worsens the problem it was ostensibly meant to solve
