I genuinely do not understand people who want to drive everywhere and park for free at their destination but insist on living in San Francisco, New York, Boston, Philadelphia, and Washington DC. The other 99.5% of the country has what you want with much lower housing prices. Move there!

These are officially my favorite fasteners for IKEA SEKTION suspension rails. Beefy, easy to drive, fit through the rail and even the funny checkmark washers if you angle them just right (but they won’t fall out).

If you’re not totally sure what’s passing through the studs behind where you’re working, they are technically 1/4” longer than they should be to avoid code-compliant wiring and pipes directly behind them.

My IP-based geolocation has always been off by around 100 miles (kind of inconvenient when searching for the nearest big box store), but TIL you can submit corrections to the three major databases, MaxMind, IPInfo, and IP2Location. Time will tell if this actually improves things for me.

it’s kind of ironic that the French government better understands and captures the true aesthetics and ideals of America than the groyper weirdos at the White House posting cringe anti-American MAGAslop

thinking about an April Fool's joke where I wait for my friend to fall asleep, sedate them, dress them as Hannibal, fly them out to the nearest mountain range, put them in a tent surrounded by elephants, and then wait for them to wake up.

Interesting picture. What if we built houses out of that?

It's wild to think that insurance as we know it today might not existing in California in 10 years, and yet it remains a somewhat fringe policy area. calmatters.org/commentary/2...

Spent a bit of time with Claude Code trying to resurrect an old game project. We were getting nowhere until I dug up my 15-year-old Objective-C implementation which still works perfectly once Claude converted it to Swift/SpriteKit.

It's both a comfort and a let-down to see that if you want at least some things done right you have to do them yourself. Or at least it's one of those things where explaining what you want in words takes longer than just writing the damn code.

You’re not imagining things—the plums that were in your icebox are *completely gone*. Here’s why that’s bad news: • They were *your plums*, that you were saving for breakfast. That makes this personal for you. • They were *sweet*, so whoever ate them *enjoyed* them. That’s unforgivable.

This is pretty cool (I had this same thought myself) and honestly not a bad business idea as a web service. "People who are strongly considering dropping 4–5 figures on an HVAC system" seems like an audience that businesses would be eager to advertise to.

Anyone can use my spreadsheet for sizing replacement HVAC systems using historic fuel billing data and it's way more accurate than having an HVAC contractor do a manual J docs.google.com/spreadsheets...

If I’m understanding this correctly, X is owned by a white nationalist who pays poor people of color in developing countries to pretend to be working class white Americans to scare other white Americans into being afraid poor people of color from developing countries are going to ruin America?

It’s high time English replaced “ph” with “f”. Fotografy instead of photography; filosofy instead of philosophy; ufolstery instead of upholstery.
