this is so fucking pathetic.

Let's address a couple of questions here: 1) is this user toxic? 2) are they making a threat sending trans people to camps? 3) how do you address harassment? 4) how does toxicity currently work? How will it work? Apologies, this should be a blog.

I think I'm giving up on Linux tbh. I so badly want to be able to use it. The problem might be that I'm using it on a 2015 MacBook, but I looked online and people have said it's great? I'm not exaggerating when I say 50% of the time I click something, nothing happens.

I tried to install steam so I could download aesprite. It downloaded but when I click it to open it nothing happens. If I open it from the terminal nothing happens. Okay, I'll uninstall it I guess. Hit uninstall and nothing happens. Do it from the terminal and nothing happens.

I know Linux users have this reputation but like, I am good with computers I thought? Lol. I don't mind doing some tinkering but holy shit, this thing simply doesn't work. I'm sure there's some giant rabbit hole I could go down to try and fix it but like, why bother?

starting to add ranged spells / attacks into this rogue-like thing i've been playing around with. kinda shocked I got aiming to work on the first try, even if I did get to reuse most of line of sight code #godot #indiedev #gamedev

im concerned that im recalculating this every single frame, and i should probably do something about that. kinda surprised the fps isn't dropping at all yet. im at least going to pool the targeting sprites because right now i am destroying and recreating all of them every frame lol

i've been playing around with making an old school roguelike the last few weeks and i think i've made the combat complicated enough that i may need unit tests and MAN do i not want to do that :( :( :(

I've had a 2015 MacBook for ages that can't really be used for most things. I was bored so I attempted to put Linux on it. I am no longer bored or in a good mood.

I'm a professional software engineer, I totally understand why it's like this. But man, I had to reinstall it entirely 3 times because it kept getting corrupted until I found some random reddit comment that was like "you have to disable wifi while installing it or it won't work".

NEW ARTICLE NEW ARTICLE NEW ARTICLE! Emotions are the basic and most important part of human function, as essential as protein. So why is it that so many game designers don't design for emotion? featuring Dark Cloud and Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth! docseuss.medium.com/its-not-enou...

My project manager saved 90 seconds of their day today by using AI to write my jira ticket. I then spent 6 hours working on the ticket before another manager pointed out that the ticket was wrong and all my work needed to be scrapped. Yeah man, this is the future!

"Indies will save us" No! YOU WILL SAVE INDIES! Go leave a review for that neat indie game you like, share the trailer for an upcoming game you're anticipating, tell your fave developer they did a good job, go tell people about such and such game that's just come out, you can make a difference!

Oh, you've made a video game? And you want people to play it? Well, let's talk about how to do that better. How, exactly, can you make sure people care about your game and want to tell other people about it? Check it out here: docseuss.medium.com/its-not-enou...

it is cool that maga guys won and live in the ruins of their victory, total control of government and legal system, entire wings of power bending to their will despite their galactic unpopularity and yet they aren't allowed to enjoy any movie. they have to be mad at all the movies. heartbreaking

oh my god just stop you absolute babies I wanted France to lose today because it would have been very funny but I have been negatively polarized against Paraguay this is ridiculous

Kinda surprised I don't see more people talking about Abiotic Factor. Just one of the best co op games I've played. Has just a disgusting amount of content.

You can tell how AI is going in general with how all these places refuse to let you disable it. If it was a good product making money they wouldn't care. They're trying to get you dependent on it so they can turn around and sell you tokens Feel we're so close to them pulling back on the slop a bit

Got a new Dell Laptop at work & it comes with a COPILOT KEY next to the right Alt button. I thought OK, I can surely disable this key or remap it to Ctrl. Oh my friends, no. I was foolish. Searching for help came across this, Dell agents aren't even allowed to discuss remapping the copilot key.

Idk. People may argue over the price, but I just can't get over 1-2 billion bucks to make a 'being a piece of shit in FLORIDA' simulator?' Idk man.. is this the best we can do? Everything we can do in an infinite virtual space, and the largest budget goes to... that.

Pretty mixed on Mina the Hollower so far. Some parts rule so much, and then others feel like it's just trying to frustrate you. I don't mind difficult games, the boss fights I've done have been fantastic. There's just some bits that are difficult and very unfun.

I know there are built in assists you can turn on, but idk. The annoying parts aren't annoying cause of difficulty, they are annoying because they seem to be designed to be annoying. I don't think I'll be able to stick out a game where I have to keep turning on an assist mode to bypass bad parts.

Also incredibly confused why the game doesn't seem to have any map at all. Just even a static picture to nudge me in the right direction would be enough. I'm going to have to look up a guide I think because I simply don't know where I'm expected to go next. It seems to be dead ends in each direction

decided to go with a skill tree as a way to pick rewards between maps instead of just picking 1 from a random selection of 3. i still gotta make it look.... uh.... not like that, but it works! #ScreenshotSaturday #Godot #indieDev

Just grabbed this. I've only listened to a third of them so far but man these rule. 10/10

The thing about discussions of increasing the price of games to make dev more sustainable is that we still are getting quarter after quarter of record profits from major publishers so idk seems like the layoffs have very little to do with AAA pricing and a lot to do with business strategy

if I seem militant about AI it's because a lot of my friends are writers, concept artists, QA people, etc, and they are the ones who are currently having their careers obliterated by that shit. not speculatively. happening right now. I don't see a need to be soft towards ppl who shrug at that
