Brazilian President Lula: “For the Bolsonaro family, Brazil is their second homeland. “Their first homeland is licking boots in the United States, just as they are accustomed to doing.”

Need game devs and games jounalists to start textually distinguishing between procedurally generated content, game NPC AI, and generative LLM content, starting last year. Context is king, and being glib can cost reputation and clarity. This goes for all of you out here too. Be precise.

We, internationally, need to do exactly what the Brazilians did and lead by example with: 1) Block all far right figures/accounts 2) Never share a far right account even to dunk on them 3) Never reply to a far right account even to dunk on them Completely cut their algorithmic advantage

Still have a lot of residual irritation about artists that did the NFT grift, which at the very least, helped contribute/precluded the AI problem we have now. This gross crypto-entrepreneurial shit that I'll forever associate with their work.

there are additional points to be made about how IP is not, despite some claims by artists to the contrary, a concept that protects creative labor, but the opposite. IP is to the benefit of corporations, workers most often don’t own “IP” they create

NEW: I spoke with current and former EA employees to understand how the latest layoff round played out and the realities of daily life at the U.S. publisher. The short version? EA is controlled by an executive class that "cannot fail, only be failed." Workers, then, will always pay the price.

"I don't want to work at this place anymore:" EA workers decry mismanagement and corporate greed after mass layoffs Current and former EA employees paint a bleak picture of daily life at one of the video game industry's most prominent publishers

So the "advice" doled out in this column makes me INCREDIBLY fucking angry as a former kid who was repeatedly taken to task by teachers for "inappropriate" drawings, culminating in a 9th-grade suspension spurred by Columbine paranoia and residual Satanic Panic. Arionne here says that was JUSTIFIED.

I think a lot could be said about how fandoms are very much structured to be consumerist without any critical analysis of capitalist production, and how this is the logical end result of that.

Update: 60cm-long bubble tea has entered the chat.

Accented Cinema@accentedcinema.bsky.social

These 60cm-long egg tarts have been everywhere in China for the past two months, and online reactions have morphed into a debate on consumerism. Some netizens decry their virality as consumerist BS, others explain that if a purchase brings them joy, then it is worth it.

I'm genuinely shocked that this game is free. It's polished, beefy, seems well designed, and the demo did relatively well on Steam. Sign of the times? Overwhelming competition? Either way, grab it. It's kinda like Darkest Dungeon/Griftlands with Borderlands' setting and sense of humor.

I think it's beautiful when art effects people so deeply they'll go to these lengths to try to save a particular project, I just wish we had any kind of organized body for creative workers across industries that could funnel this energy into actually supporting the people who created the art

Hayes Madsen@solfleet.bsky.social

Does it need to be said that Mass Effect shouldn’t exist without the developers and team that was working on this game? Either they come back and make the game they were, or Mass Effect dies. kotaku.com/mass-effect-...

Hollywood did the same thing in the wake of the Great Depression about a hundred years ago. And what happened? The workers unionized. And then game studios are SHOCKED when game workers follow the same playbook they are. Spoiler alert: we win in the end!

Max Nichols@maxnichols.bsky.social

I THINK one of the things we're really seeing is a continent, maybe industry-wide shift away from full-time employees and towards gig/codev work. And that transition looks like layoffs across the board even from studios that just had big successes.

Actions speak louder than words, personally I was in talks with Epic to get all my game assets on their Fab.com marketplace (for free) but cancelled the deal immediately. If they want slop, let them have slop.

Between Tim Sweeney being an absolute AI chud and the harassment of our beloved @kenney.nl, we've decided to cancel our previously announced Epic Games Store release for Shape Sender Deluxe 🚮
