…and the latter get NO help - capital is responsible for almost all we see and hear, day in, day out, and the vast majority of that is openly sympathetic to its own ghoulish cause. But we do potentially have the numbers.

This seems a very obvious point, but the result in Brazil reveals just how clean the line is between Left and Right re Interests - sure, plenty of normal people vote both sides, but the engine of the right is capital and the engine of the left is people.

By all accounts this is what most of the recent Reform media events have looked like. Bubble well and truly burst

It is sort of bizarre at this point. This is the state broadcaster doing propaganda for... an opposition party?

As Nick Robinson interviews Farage on #r4today for the umpteenth time, may I remind you that BBC News has instituted a policy of trying to make itself more attractive to Reform voters. True story (see further down this thread for deets).

I Am Incorrigible@imincorrigible.bsky.social

Nick Robinson just asked John Curtice if the BBC giving a platform to Farage & Reform was responsible for their popularity; presumably hoping to hear the polling guru say a resounding "no". Instead, Curtice said, "it's not just that, it's also how he uses it" So the answer's clearly yes. #r4today

After the first round elections, Congressman André Janones created a WhatsApp channel titled “Lula’s Army.” It ballooned to 10 million people following his commands on how to behave online to counteract Meta’s far-right-favouring algorithms. The right knows how to use socials. We must learn, too.

I’m not a political journalist, so was gladly surprised at the community I found here last night. To Americans anxious about the upcoming elections, a key thing we learned in Brazil that might help you: DO NOT engage with the far-right online. Don’t share rage bait. Amplify your people. Ignore them.

Kelpie joined my household eight days before the fifth anniversary of Alice's death, and the way it happened was so perfect a chain of coincidences that I really do feel like Alice went "You have been too sad for too long, let me send you the most complicated chaos beast available."

The way a lot of men in the anti-trans movement speak to, and speak about, cis women allies who are vocal in their support of trans people's human rights is straight up misogynistic hate. See how Papa Terf Graham Linehan targets cis women allies in particular for dogpiling and harassment and abuse.

imrix.bsky.social reposted

Something I spoke about before was how transphobia is often an expression of misogyny, it gives people who hate women an outlet and sets trans women up as a class of women it's socially okay to be misogynistic towards, while also providing an ideological justification for that misogyny.

A new survey of 1,000 American adults found that the strongest supporters of transgender sports bans are not the people who admire women most: they are the people who hold the most hostile views about women. www.helenwebberley.com/news/transge...

The achievement of Serbian students overthrowing Aleksandar Vučić can't be overstated. In 2024, they began protesting. In 2025, they transformed a protest movement into civil dissidence. In 2026, they became a political party — and two months later, crushed a corrupt state-entrenched authoritarian.

As is normal practice for mainstream media, they fabricate “news” which is not news but just something their oligarch owners would *like* to be true but isn’t. Performative dishonesty.

This is why I hate the “it has to be subtle!!!” Critique of queer media. The fact that we can’t just say what we are or what the character is is so reductive and constraining to so many queer writers. Don’t let cis people dictate how you show you identity. They don’t know what they’re saying.

JenWave1995@jenwave1995.bsky.social

When trans creators are subtle, people dismiss the trans subtext as “headcanon.” When trans creators are loud and proud, people call it “obnoxious” and “cringe.” They just don’t want us to be represented in media at all. Because they don’t want us to exist at all.

This, but also, as a liberal I believe in freedom and human rights for all people, all around the world. That translates into rooting interests in elections where freedoms and rights are on the ballot, as they often are.

Matty with another sizzler. Setting aside the obvious “we don’t want fascism to win anywhere” rebuttal, you know what’s in Brazil? A whopping 60% of the fucking Amazon rainforest. Jair Bolsonaro, Flavio’s dad, oversaw a surge in deforestation. Oh, and we already just missed 1.5 degrees.

Dan Mauler 🎃@meelar.bsky.social

I just think Matt's wrong about this. We're at a point in our technological development where a ton of problems spill over national borders--if Flavio Bolsonaro burns down the Amazon, that will flood houses in Miami.

again, when you get fired from the coalition it is a tactical choice being made on their end that your vote quantities as a bloc weigh less than what they might pick up otherwise. thus, it is logical you are freed from the obligation to vote as a bloc and you can instead decide how you wish as

sorry but if they're dangling your right to exist as something on the table then you don't have to give them the dignity of the honesty of your intention. if they're running on misinformation to put you on the chopping block then simply make their life difficult even if voting tactically.

correct. you aren't supposed to hold your nose and Respectfully "vote blue no matter who" you're supposed to make your political candidates terrified and desperate that they may lose your vote Even If you're going to secretly vote for them anyway. psychological warfare. etc
