Only the American people stand between democracy and dictatorship. That means VOTING in unprecedented numbers next month and then being prepared to march on every state capitol and the nation’s capital if necessary. C’mon Americans gird your fighting spirit. YOUR COUNTRY NEEDS YOU🫵

Very interesting post on migrants in northern France and their desperation to reach the UK. The question of “why?” still remains, though.

FRANCE 24 English@en.france24.com

In the north of France, #Calais was once home to thousands of people, all here with one dream: to cross the Channel and reach the UK. In 2016, French police dismantled the so-called "Jungle camp". Our journalists went there for #Revisited ➡️ https://go.france24.com/6now

We should never forget the fact that David Cameron called the 2016 Brexit referendum for the sole reason of preserving Tory party unity. No other reason. Ten years on and the current economic and defence weakness of our country stems from his move and is his responsibility alone.

Politics latest: Village reveals result of symbolic vote to leave UK over migrant camp Go on then, fcuk off. See what fun border controls will be and having Reform manage your village. Good luck!

We will come to regret being weak against these people for a very long time

2) and 3) are intimately linked, in that the BBC (the organisation that really matters in the modern environment) treats 'claims by rival parties' as the operating frame for how it covers everything. The failure from Labour and the Conservatives to say 'this stuff is bad' is really, really bad.

If you’d have asked me a decade ago to guess how many Brits were bigots/racists I’d have naively suggested between 10-15% of the voting public. How complacent was I? To realise that figure is almost a THIRD rather than a tenth nearly pushes me to despair. But then, 2/3 of people aren’t racists.

This is serious. If Reform blatantly, intentionally and knowingly broke election law, they should be held fully accountable. Liberal Democrats have asked the Police and the Electoral Commission to investigate.

After ten years of the Conservatives’ Brexit experiment, the British public have had enough. Nigel Farage pocketed a £5 million ‘reward’ for the damage he’s caused, while the rest of us are paying for it dearly. It’s time to end the chaos and fix our broken relationship with Europe.

A Liberal Democrat amendment to the King’s Speech calling for the UK to start negotiations with the EU on a customs union is expected to be voted on by MPs on Wednesday

Whether you’re a Monarchist, republican or (like me) a Just-leave-things-alone-ist this is soft power in action. We rarely give credit for its virtues or values but having a head of state who can eloquently articulate the world as it is to politicians, is an art form and should be appreciated.

Now.. very slowly for those at the back… Who wins when states go to war and when politicians promote fossil fuels over renewables and push to scrap Net Zero? Because it isn’t us. Our bills don’t go down. Our planet doesn’t get prioritised. Our futures don’t get safer. (Sky News)

Yes.. and I’m not a Labour voter. KS needs time and support from both the Labour Party and the PLP to continue bringing this country back from the brink that they inherited from the Tories.

Pippa Crerar@pippacrerar.bsky.social

It looks like attempts to shore up Keir Starmer ahead of privileges vote - with ring round, big beasts rolled out & PM at PLP - have worked. Most Labour MPs convinced that May elections & Iran conflict, mean not time to succumb to Tory political stunt. Whips imposed three line whip just in case.

Palantir should be nowhere near our NHS. The government should be setting out its plan for removing it from our health service as soon as possible.

Today the world’s media turned away from the war in Iran to focus on the Reform UK Press Conference to hear me announce… the defection of a couple of councillors that nobody’s ever heard of or gives a shit about.

Nigel Farage, name any three things you like about the UK? We’ll wait… Take your time…. No rush…. When you’re ready…. Any time soon… OK, it’s starting to get late so can we have an answer please?

As journalists working today many of us are taught to recognise disinformation when we see it and fight back against it. Unfortunately there are some who willingly seek it out and put it on their front pages. A disgrace to the profession.

Nigel Farage’s history of spurious election fraud allegations. 2014: Farage claims voting fraud happening “on a third world scale”, no evidence found. 2015: South Thanet elections, Farage fraud allegations dismissed.

First thing that strikes me (assuming this map is more or less accurate) is the odd contiguousness to the constituency. Almost like it’s been gerrymandered. Probably just an anomaly 🤷‍♂️

As a born and bred English man (of 100% Anglo-Celtic stock I might add) something that thrills me is when Scotland play Wales in rugby or football. Both anthems make the hairs on the back of my neck stand up and I get chills. Sung with such fervour and passion! ❤️💙 Bloody wonderful!!

Not a statesman. Not strong. Not patriotic. Not principled. Farage is a traitorous little shit who is too compromised and too desperate to please Trump, to serve the best interests of our country. He will only ever betray us because he has to see Brexit through to the bitter, broken end. (iPaper)

It’s a real shame that Nigel Farage is too unwell to do interviews the morning after Donald Trump threatens us with sanctions. Here he is with “the bravest man he ever met”. He campaigned to make Trump President, and has spent the last year enjoying all the chaos he has caused.

Farage doesn’t care about the NHS. He wants to privatise it and replace it with an American-style insurance system. That’s Trump’s America, don’t let it become Farage’s Britain.
